This thread is for the discussion, and for posting of information about Polish bootlegs. Articulated; any gen. Unarticulated both sizes, and all variations from both lines. As more information is posted (providing that this section takes off) we'll be able to spread it out a bit.

Hi there Smile

Is it possible I found a new home?

Guys, show to the world your Polish treasures!

Aussie, the guns produced in Poland was:

- Zuckuss riffle
- Snowtrooper riffle
- IG88 riffle
- Stormtrooper (Fett? IG88?) blaster
- Han Solo (or other similar) blaster
- TIE Pilot (or other similar) blaster
- Biker Scout blaster
- Veers (or other similar) blaster
- Cloud Pilot communicator
- Vader's saber

Those guns were produced by Elektrospółdzielnia and sold separately in bags, although some collectors saw single digits sold with carded figures.

The deluxe series got their own gun: axe for Gam Guard, proper riffle for Ree Yees, snake, belt and cane for Yoda and unproper two items for AT-AT Driver - Han blaster & Rebel Commando riffle (without link though)

The unarts were sold loose without guns (but we can find a complete gun set for IG88 in the Elektro series for example)

The originals were sold with proper guns. We are still waiting for the surfacing of Tusken's example...

The black Snowtrooper was sold carded with skirt and proper riffle, different from the riffle made by Elektrospółdzielnia.

Hope that helps, Jakub.

We can come up with a generation specific weapon guide. I also have a carded weapons baggie. Over the weekend I can take as good of pics of each weapon that I own as possible. And as for some 1st gens coming with weapons on card, I have several that have a piece of looped over tape, at mid bubble level that's attached to the bubble, but not the card that when I purchased them in the late 90s, 2 had weapons attached to that tape(tape has since dried and weapons came loose). I can also try to take good close up pics of those. I have Sunday free before band practice, I'll work on those then, unless I get a spare hour or 2 today. Any weapons that I do not show, or even color variations please post. The more the merrier.

Cheers
Joe

Also Jakub, if you could repost some of the info that you'd put on RS about the citys of origin and locations of the factories here, that'd be great!!!

Thanks

Joe,

That would be fantastic to post here countless Polish topics, also reposting from RS. Do you have any idea how to draw the structure of the Polish section? I think we will soon exceed the size of this very thread... And I'm preparing a real bomb to present on TIG for a good beginning...

So, we started Smile Great!

We could separate this into 2 threads one for articulated and one for unarticulated. Eventually, we can put together a guide/article in the interactive section with ALL of the information and photos of as many variants as we'd like. We can delve into the differences between the short and tall, and where you believe the 2nd factory for them was. Just having all of that info in one place, and not scattered around will be invaluable for the community and newer collectors combined.

Cheers

I think we can post here for a while and you will decide when the time has come to split/remove some topics to the sepatrate threads.

A question - what about pictures? I have 3 in my gallery and there is an info the storage limit is reached... Sad...

Hi Jakub, sorry, we're having an issue with storage for the gallery at the moment. In the meantime you can post pictures using the Servimg host. Just go to the 'host an image' icon when you make a post and you can upload directly from your computer. There will be a choice between thumbnail, image, link. Select one of these then copy and paste into your post.

I like the idea of a guide/article, Joe. Like you said, at least all the info will be easier to access compared to having hunt down specific threads to find what your looking for. Since Im basically an unart sucker, I would love to know more about those. Too bad theres not enough or any for that matter on how to tell which ones came first, the soft or hard plastic. Cant wait until my new ones come in to show off in here.

PostSubject: NEW Question!!   The Polish Bootleg thread I_icon_minitimeSun Jun 03, 2012 12:23 pm

OK, we've been delving into the mysterys of the tall and short unarticulateds. Were ALL of the figures done in both sizes? I don't believe that I've seen any anomalies in the height of any of the Ewoks, or the CS figures. I was just breaking down my display today to start taking individual pics of each loose variant for the Polish article (I'm doing it by figure so it's not as overwhelming as you'd think) and that came to mind. Thoughs?

Guys,

This is a little article about the unarticulated series of Polish bootlegs from the 80's. It doesn't include the two poker-caped figures (Chewie and Stormie) and two Disney series figures (C3PO and R2D2).

Polish unarts may be divided into several categories, according to:

A. SOURCE OF THE COPIES

- Kenner copies:

The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-014 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-015 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-016 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-017 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-018 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-019 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-020 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-021 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-022
The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-023 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-024 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-025 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-026 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-027 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-028 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-029 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-030

- Elektrospółdzielnia movable carded figures' copies (with Biker Scout / TIE Pilot limbs):

The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-031 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-032 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-033 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-034 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-035 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-036 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-037 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-038 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-039 The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-043

Note: we cannot definitely say if this two groups were made separately by different producers. Acoording to my informer, there were at least three cities where the figures were made (Warszawa, Wałbrzych, Poznań), but all of them gave mixed lots from the groups above. The question is, how was it done in time? Maybe at start there was one producer making only the Kenner copies. Then the Elektro series appeared. Then another producer made unart copies of Elektro. Then another producer made copies of the Kenner copies and copies of Elektro copies. Maybe. That could explain some of the categories below (B, E)

B. SIZE

- large
- small

Example (two bootlegs and the Kenner):

The Polish Bootleg thread 2012-042

I have observed all of the unart figures differing in size. Part of them could be explained by the process of the rubber cooling after molding. Part of them though are so different in size, that could only be explained as the copy of the copy.

C. RUBBER SOFTENESS

- hard, almost plastic, unpossible to bend the limbs
- quite hard, but with limbs possible to move
- soft, body and limbs bendable

This category is linked only with the material used and cannot be ascribed to the particular producers.

D. RUBBER COLOR

- white:
we know about Leia, Luke, Luke Pilot, Ben, Han, Vader (painted silver), Tusken, Nunb, Commando
- creme:
Ben, Fett, Scout,
- yellow:
Tusken, Luke, Han, Wicket, Veers, Nunb, Pruneface, Lando, Rebel Hoth, At-St,
- brown:
Chewie, Logray, Chirpa, Wicket, Tusken, Ben, Leia, Luke, Veers, Commando, Barada, Fett, Luke Pilot, Scout, At-St, Lando, Rebel Hoth
- grey:
Zuckuss, Vader, Leia, Ben, Luke, Han, Veers, Commando, Tusken, Wicket, Lando, Luke Pilot, Fett, At-St, Rebel Hoth, Scout, Nunb, Pruneface
- black:
Leia, Veers, Vader, Chewie, Chirpa, Wicket, Commando, C3PO (painted silver/gold), Stormtrooper (painted silver/gold or only with white detals), IG88 (painted silver), Fett, At-St, Rebel Hoth, Luke Pilot, Lando, Scout, Gunner (painted silver/gold), Snowtrooper (painted silver/gold)
- red:
Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Zuckuss, C3PO (painted silver/gold), IG88 (painted silver), Commando, Barada, Lando, Gunner (painted silver/gold), Fett, At-St, Rebel Hoth, Luke Pilot, Scout, Nunb, Pruneface
- pink:
Luke, Han, Leia, Chirpa, Fett, At-St
- blue:
Luke, Han, Leia, Ben, IG88 (painted silver), Veers, Commando, Barada, Tusken, Lando, Luke Pilot, At-St, Rebel Hoth, Fett, Scout, Nunb, Pruneface
- green:
Leia, Han, Ben, Barada, Commando, Tusken, Wicket, Fett, At-St, Rebel Hoth, Luke Pilot, Lando, Scout, Scout, Nunb, Pruneface

This category is linked only with the material used and cannot be ascribed to the particular producers.

Note:

This is PINK Han, on both pictures - the trousers were always painted, the rubber color is shown on shirt!

The Polish Bootleg thread Hanun311 The Polish Bootleg thread Hanpin11

And this is RED IG88! The so called 'silver' or 'gold' figures (IG88, C3PO, Gunner, Snowtrooper, Stormtrooper, Vader) were made of normal color rubber, then painted silver or gold.

The Polish Bootleg thread P0511110

E. WAY OF DETAIL PAINTINGS

- Careful, the details are thin, faces are drawn with something we could call 'taste'. Example:

The Polish Bootleg thread 2010-110 The Polish Bootleg thread 2010-111

- Cheesy, made in hurry. Example:

The Polish Bootleg thread 2011-110 The Polish Bootleg thread 2011-012

In my opinion, the differences in detail painting were determined by the different producers.

A bit of statistics:

The most popular unarts today are Stormtroopers, Veers, Chewbacca and Vader. We can easily say each of them is known in about 120-150 examples. But there is only one undamaged silver Vader though...

One of most popular is Boba Fett, but thanks to the fact that this character is a very popular focus for collectors, unart Fetts still reach quite high prices.

The rarest of all seem to be the ewoks: about 25 of each exist.

The most unique variants existing are:

- pink Chirpa
- blue Chirpa
- yellow Tusken
- yellow Veers
- silver Vader
- red Zuckuss
- pink At-St Driver

There is still lot to do in the matter of Polish unarts. We do not know the makers. We don't know the reasons of chosing particular characters for copying. We don't know if ANY of the producers was making ALL of the 27 figures at once. We don't have any molds preserved. Hope we will find in the future some of the answers. For now, I can only show you the place, where - according to my informer - one of the producers had his workshop. It is in Warsaw, and the workshop doesn't exist anymore:

https://maps.google.pl/maps?q=warszawa,+brzeska&hl=pl&ll=52.253484,21.040696&spn=0.001302,0.003484&sll=51.765343,19.457216&sspn=0.042124,0.111494&hnear=Brzeska,+Warszawa,+Mazowieckie&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=52.253413,21.040521&panoid=6VjI4LwLuoNTeb2Z7ooj3w&cbp=12,76,,0,5.27

Please add your suggestions or suplements, I will edit this post according to them. Also will try to make better pictures Smile

Jakub

Great stuff Jakub. Ideally We can merge that with the variation list/short and tall list that I'm working on, and once finished compile it ALL into a full spectrum article for the interactive section here.
