ah - thank you much! Being color blind is a severe disability when analyzing vintage variants lol. I also have a Death Squad Commander with Coo #4. Figure has black eyebrows and painted wrist buttons. I'm assuming that all Death Squad Commanders are coo 7 and that there has not been a verified HK Death Squad Commander. Would you say that the figure is more likely PBP or possibly just an error? I buy quite a lot of mixed lots on ebay and seem to encounter figures with meltmarks, paint errors, poor sonic welding, and various other pbp/poch characteristics quite frequently. Based on the fact that Pbp figures are supposed to be extremely difficult to find in the U.S., I feel as if I'm often considering error figures to be possible PBP variants. Hoping to pick up the Comprehensive PBP/POCH guide in the next few weeks, but can't seem to find an available copy. Cheers!
The last two weeks have been very interesting to me as a Luke Jedi focus collector. I have seen many of the much tougher to find Luke Jedi MOCs suddenly appear on the market, some of which, I have not seen on sale/trade since I first started collecting. Why the sudden sell off? I hear myself asking. Have prices started to dip? Are investors cashing out at the peak? If they are, it seems that for every rare MOC holder willing to sell, there are many more eager collectors just waiting in the side lines for an opportunity to become one.
This morning, whilst getting ready for work, I checked-up on what happened last night to a Moulded Head – Snap Cape Luke Jedi MOC that was being auctioned on eBay in the USA:
I have linked the completed auction Here , but the seller’s photos will eventually disappear into the ether, so here is my specimen:
This particular variation: Made in Taiwan (TJ) Luke with the snap cape neatly folded in a separate baggie behind Luke. It is the very first edition for this factory and so arguably very desirable.
However, I nearly choked on the tea and crumpets that I was having for breakfast when I saw the finish price: $1001.51 (£727). 15 separate bidders were competing on this one - which just goes to show, even though Luke Jedi has departed the movies, there is still huge demand for his vintage figure.
Whether we think this is a fair price or not all depends on the perspective of the buyer! Has he been collecting for a long time, is this the only one that he needs for a complete run? What are the chances of getting another? I personally took a punt that it would go for around $600 - based on current market conditions and rarity. However, looking at the last two separate bids, it appears two people were willing to pay at least $1000 for him and that’s all it takes to escalate a mass produced toy of the 80s to the upper echelons of collecting, where only the wealthiest can afford.
Based on my current research there are at least 7 possible Luke Jedi – Snap Cape combinations (I still need one of them), that could mean someone wanting to get everyone will need to put together up to $7000. The mind boggles…
My worry is if this continues, more and more sophisticated fakes will be worth the making the effort. Aussie James highlighted a Blue Sabre that has the best approximation to the genuine hilt that I have seen, so it is getting harder and harder to see the real deal.
I post some of the other MOC I have spotted and a peculiar baggie next time...

Hi ! I have a Lili Ledy Han Solo Bespin with the nice white buckle in its back , this one has COO #4 as in the LL guide ; however, it does not has its ears covered by hair as shown in the COO #3 example. Is this only with COO #3 and not with COO #4? Could it be that initially the hair was done as in the Kenner figures and then later was done covering the ears? Your comments are greatly appreciated!
After my MITW Vader, I knew that I had to have MORE Vaders. The order should be changed up a little. Number 2 is a Lily Ledy I bought on its own. His paint is gorgeous. His saber is coming via a separate post. 1,3, and 4 were ordered as a lot for $70. No idea on origins, COOs, etc, but I figured the price was worth it. Ended up with Kenner HK (#1) sharing a LL COO, Raised bar no COO w/ a surprisingly gray head (#3), and another nice Kenner HK (#4). At the end is my first Vader with a lettered saber. And then the big guy. Love him. Plus, in a few days, I should have my PBP Vader
Hey! wow, awesome pics too! Looks like you have many of the weapon, hood (small, large etc..) and stitching variations too.
For the Coo's, there is a guide here to help accurately identify them: *Mod edit see post pertaining to coo guide
Can't believe I'm about to admit this but I bet I'm not the only one - I have a spreadsheet with every figure, coo, accessory version etc... that I own , so these guides are crucial.
My coo's in the picture I posted (left to right) are #4, #5, #1, #1 & I don't have the vinyl catalogued yet but he should be a #1
Thanks for the link to the Jawa Coo's, I will have to take a closer look at mine...
My Wife and I put together spread sheets, but it was for our collection before a move... We got ripped off by movers one time, and we said never again... We basically had a sheet with a list of the contents on it and a number. The number matched the box and its contents... I would love to put together a list like yours, but I have a lot to learn regarding weapon and accessory variations and Coo's...

Er, yeah, perhaps "light blue" isn't the best description. I meant the smooth more intense blue (second from the left with the POTF smooth cape jawa).
Here's a bunch, and I'd describe them like this: (left to right) 1) very rough texture, dark blue/black, failed/ short pour bump (v4 on the guide) 2) smooth, "more intense" blue, no bump 3) smooth, dark greeny blue/black, no bump (transluscent green when backlit) 4) smooth, "more intense" blue, with bump 5) rough (but not as rough as 1), dark blue/black, with bump
@Danny - your moc looks looks like my #3 figure, and #4 weapon so I think I'll match those up, so thanks for your pictures!
Also, come to think of it, I know the VC Jawa didn't come with the more intense blue blaster, or the failed bump but I wonder whether the dark rough (#5) its currently with, or the translucent green (#3) would be more appropriate? I might open that up as a new thread...
Sadly I have no idea which of these actually came with the figures anymore. I just know my Vinyl and POTF came without weapons at all.

DIFFERENCES: Compared to his Kenner counterpart, the Ledy Teebo has: - A shade lighter grey stripes on his body (hard to grasp by camera, unfortunately) - Glossy instead of dull grey nose and eyes
An overview of the small COO variations found in Ledy Teebo figures is given below. Pictures were made by Ozio.
Small space between and LFL 1984: 'Aligned'.

PAINT VARIATIONS:
Major Variations: The Lili Ledy Teebo has a variant with brown eyes and nose. This figure appears with grey stripes that have the same intensity compared to a regular Ledy Teebo, or with a shade darker stripes (comparable to a no COO Teebo). You can read more about this interesting variant in an upcoming entry in Ozio’s special report section. OZIO's Special Report: Unknown and Rare Lili Ledy Figures

-----------------------------
REMARK:
The Lili Ledy Teebo is hard to distinguish from the Kenner no COO figure. Personally I think Teebo is the toughest figure to identify. But like that other tough figure (Ackbar) you have to look into their eyes.
If you plan to buy a Ledy teebo make sure you have a no COO Teebo at home for comparison. With both figures in hand, the differences are much more obvious. The eyes are different, and the stripes of the no COO Teebo are a bit darker.
To help you, I made a few more comparison shots, including the Taiwan figure. Notice the different eye colours.

ACCESSORIES
HOOD/SKULL:
Did you know? I always thought that Teebo was wearing the skull of a wild pig. Today I actually learned that it is the skull of a Gurreck, a horned predator native to the Endor forests. This little Ewok kills brute predators!!! My respect for Teebo has grown a lot today.
The Ledy brown Luke came with two slightly different COOs. They differ in the relative position of the raised bar relative to the crease on the left leg: -COO #7: Raised bar stops at the crease -COO #8: Raised bar extending the crease.
Comparison between Ledy Lukes: COO #8 (left, bar extends crease), COO #7 (right, bar stops at crease).
Comparison between Ledy Lukes: COO #8 (left, bar extends crease), COO #7 (right, bar stops at crease).
Comparison between Ledy Lukes: COO #8 (left, bar extends crease), COO #7 (right, bar stops at crease).
DIFFERENCES:
Compared to his Kenner ('Made in China' baggie) counterpart, the Ledy Luke Bespin has: - Mustard brown hair instead of orange brown hair - A face which is cast in a paler (less pinkish) plastic - Black instead of darkbrown eyebrows - Brown instead of greenish brown boots - A thicker sprayed saber (this is most easy to spot)
PAINT VARIATIONS:
Small Variations: The small paint differences between the Lili Ledy figures (the colour of the boots and the thickness of the eyes and eyebrows) which can be seen in the pictures below, are due to small batch to batch variations and/or Lili Ledy’s sloppy quality control.
Comparison between Lukes: From left to right: 1 (Kenner), 2 (Ledy), 3 (Ledy), 4 (Ledy)
Comparison between Lukes: Counterclockwise starting at the top: 1 (Kenner), 2 (Ledy), 3 (Ledy), 4 (Ledy)
Major variations: The dark brown Ledy Luke Bespin in the pictures below is a kitbashed figure composed of a Ledy body and a factory painted Ledy overstock head. The dark brown Luke Bespin was never released on card by Lili Ledy.

DIFFERENCES:
Compared to his PBP counterpart, the blond Ledy Luke Bespin has: - Pale blond instead of yellowish blond hair - A face which is cast in a paler (less pinkish) plastic - Darker brown boots - A sprayed saber which is connected to the sprayed belt
Note: The blond Luke Bespin was released on Ledy's ESB 10-back but also on the early ROTJ 12-back. The brown hair Ledy Luke was released on later ROTJ cards.
COO guide for Imperial Commander: COO no. 4 is shared by Ledy and Kenner.
NOTE: Unfortunately I could not make comparison pics with a Kenner figure sharing COO no. 4 as I don't have this figure in my collection. Pics were therefore taken with COO no. 1, which can be regarded the 'ancestor' of COO no. 4.

DIFFERENCES: Compared to the Kenner figure with COO #1, the Ledy Imperial Commander has: - a slightly tanned face - light brown instead of dark brown eyes and eyebrows - lighter brown hair which is longer at the back - a curved left thumb. REMARK: keep in mind that the Kenner figure with COO #4 also has this curved thumb, as the same steel moulds were used by Kenner and Lili Ledy for this figure. See AJ's pic on page 3 of this thread, where a comparison is made with Kenner figures having the exact same COO (#4) as the Ledy figure.
ACCESSORIES The Ledy Imperial Commander wears a solid black imperial blaster having a different mould (V6 or V7) compared to the Kenner blasters. Was the Imperial Commander also packaged with a blue blaster?

COO guide for Ben Kenobi: No. 7 is shared by Lili Ledy and Kenner
NOTE:
The Ledy Ben Kenobi has COO no. 7. In the pics below a comparison is made with a Kenner figure having a similar COO (no. 4) as I don't have the exact Kenner counterpart in my collection yet.
The Ledy and PBP Ben Kenobi are exactly the same, there are no differences in paint or accessories.

DIFFERENCES: Compared to a Kenner figure (COO #4), the Ledy Ben Kenobi (COO #7) has: - darker grey hair, eye brows, moustache, and beard. In addition the eye brows, moustache and beard are sprayed 'thicker'. - a more pinkish skin colour - an index finger (at right hand) which extends over the edge of the light saber holder (*) - thicker shoe soles (*) - a left foot which extends longer from underneath the 'cloak' (*)
NOTE: The differences indicated with (*) are NOT unique for the Ledy Ben Kenobi. These are specific traits for the steel mould which is linked to COO #7. As this mould was also used by Kenner (explained in the 1st post of this thread) there are also Kenner figures having this trait.
ACCESSORIES
The Ledy Ben came with a vinyl cape which differs from a Kenner cape in the following ways: - lighter brown colour - 'smooth' feeling as it is made from more flexible vinyl - absence of the typical 'zipping' sound when you scrape your finger against any side of the cape. - arm holes are positioned a bit lower
The Ledy Ben holds a blue light saber which has a thicker tip compared to the Kenner saber.
DIFFERENCES: Compared to his Kenner counterpart, the Ledy Rebel Commander has - a less pinkish paint on the face - a reddish brown instead of brown paint used for the moustache, eyes, and eye brows - darker brown boots (but the boots can also be lighter brown, see further below!) - a grey brown instead of a brown scar - a depressed state of mind as he feels quite lonely at Echo Base without his Hoth friends (Rebel Soldier, Leia, Han, Luke) which were never released by Lili Ledy.
PAINT VARIATIONS:
Small Variations: The Ledy Rebel Commander came with two types of boot colours: dark and light brown. Pictures will be added in due time.
ACCESSORIES
BOWCASTER: The Ledy Rebel Commander came with a V2 mould bowcaster. This mould was also used by Kenner. The Ledy bowcaster is cast in very black plastic which is distinct from the matt blue/black plastic that Kenner used.
IMPORTANT: COO #4 is not unique to Lili Ledy, it was also used by Kenner!! Only the figures which were released on MIM cards have an unique COO (you can read more about this in the Introduction on the first page of this thread).
Small Variations: The small paint differences between the different Emperor figures (bright or pale yellow eyes, size of the pupils) which can be seen in the pictures below are due to small batch to batch variations in the Emperor line.
DIFFERENCES Compared to his Kenner counterpart, the Ledy Ree Yees has: - a paler skin: head, neck, hands - bigger eyes - glossy dark green instead of matt green boots. Note: The LL Ree Yees also appeared with brown boots, see below. - an unique COO #5
PAINT VARIATIONS:
Major Variations:
The Ledy Ree Yees can have green or brown boots. See the pics below.
Lili Ledy Ree Yees: Green boots (left) and brown boots (right)
Lili Ledy Ree Yees: Green boots (left) and brown boots (right)

ACCESSORIES
GUN:
The LL Ree Yees carries a gun which has a different mould compared to its Kenner counterpart. The gun has a "Y", "S" or "W" on its grip.
