The thanks button only appears on threads you started yourself!

....so you can thank any reply on your topics!

Thanks Button Mystery: SOLVED!

Apparently the thanks button is for forum reputation. Since we don't have reputation's activated, I'm not sure if it will do any good or not.

However, it's supposed to be a "kudos" type system for the thread starter. Thanks is supposed to be clicked when the person that you feel gives the most relevant response to your thread,. The reply is supposed to change color to highlight that the thread starter thanked that user. The user then gets three "reputation points" per thank you button's clicked.

Hope that helps clear it up.

It's up to Jay whether or not we activate the reputation function. So if you want it, start lobbying now!

We have a new thanks button that gives kudos but doesnt work yet?

My fault I was going through the settings and left the thanks button on.

Chris is right its part of a reputation system that can be set up but which is currently not activated.

Just to not reputation Reputation is a difference system to Kudos. Kudos is gain by starting threads and posting on threads with different points per section. Kudos can also be given for outstanding contributions.

The reputation system is different you earn points if users click that thanks button in response to your post and off course you get different levels of points depending on the section - e.g more points for thanks replies in say the reference forum than in off topic.

Anyway thats how it would work and your reputation will be listed separately under your avatar details.

I was just looking at the system the other i wasnt sold one way or the other but enough people thought it would be cool i would be happy to set it up

Wookieepedia has the weirdest search function I ever seen. Damn thing doesn't work unless what your searching for is part of a line, like Legacy of the Force. Several items would pop up then.
