| We did this back in 2010 and since the years almost out, I thought I'd start the new one. For those who didnt do this then or forgot about it, heres the old thread to refresh the memory. http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t97-what-are-your-future-plans-for-your-collection-in-2010-updated-reflection-for-2010-and-collecting-goals-for-2011 I'll get the ball rolling with mine. "2011 Goals: Continuing my hunt for vintage odd ball items and scoring some obscure pieces that haven't been seen before, continuing in the animation cells and try to get some nice sets up. Continuing in the research on vintage magazines and start up the vintage SW non-toy website I want to do, which will take me forever to complete. Hopefully be able meet up with some of my TIG buddies somewhere to chat vintage." Got part of that done. Added some nice pieces to the oddball and Animation cells collections. Didnt really get that many mags in nor did I start the website. Didnt have the motivation to do it or enough items to start with. The only thing I regret was not meeting any of my TIG homies at CV this year. 2012 Goals. To get at least one of every Polish Unart bootleg figure out there, maybe some color variants if the prices stay right. Continue to add to the oddball collection and maybe have enough material to think about the site. Go on a vintage hunting road trip up North this fall and meet up with a few guys along the way. Have a normal display for my items instead of the way they are now. Non-SW goals: Finish off several sets of comics Ive been working on this year and maybe add a few key #1 issues Find more Superhero bootlegs, Polish prefered. Add a few more coins to the collection |

Well I certainly did not hold true to that LOL 2011 was just a downright amazing year for my collecting. I am really proud of some great pickups and best of all, with some great prices to boot. I guess my highlights would be: DT Luke EB Kit Red Caped Bib Fortuna Trem Chewy (Had a Trem TIE Pilot that found a good home) Hungarian Carded Leia Bespin 3 Pack Luke Jedi Trilogo Miscard Carded VC Jawa!!!!! Meccano Carded Luc Bespin And of course my incoming (test shot/1st shot MOCs) I have to say that my best pickups have been some friendships. Corny as it sounds, I'm really appreciating that aspect of the hobby. Never even knew it existed before the boards. Despite meeting only one collector live ever, I consider some of the folks genuinely good friends and it means a lot to me. On to 2012. My goal is just like 2008,2009,2010 and 2011. I have absolutely no idea.

| I wasn't here until Feb. of this year so missed out on the goals for 2011 here. So here's my goals a sposted on RS last year. Goals for 2011: -Add a couple of MOCs to the display -Add anything IG-88 related -Work on getting all 12" vintage figures -A bootleg or two -Maybe start collecting the Marvel comic series -Get a Landspeeder and Falcon. So simple I know but both have been a challenge for me to acquire. Lets go over the list and see how it went. 1. Added a couple MOCs like I said. And sold a couple of MOCs. Discovered they aren't really my thing right now. 2. Add a few nice IG items. Both vintage and modern. 3. 12" went by the wayside this year. 4. More than "a bootleg or two" was added to the collection 5. Haven't gotten to the comics ........yet. 6. Filled the Falcon and Speeder goal only a couple days after that was posted. This years goals: 1. MORE BOOTLEGS!!!! 2. MORE IG-88 ITEMS!!!!! 3.Actually start on the vintage SW Marvel comics. I want to try and pick these up "in the wild". Meaning not online. In comic shops and where ever I can find them. 4. Model Trem IG-88. 5. Maybe pick up another coin or two. Non-SW related collecting. Comics, comic figures, comic related collectables, comics, and comics. Oh yeah and Super Powers. |

2011
1. Coins: Find that last one to finish the 62 set, Droids Boba to finish those, and a UDE coin for my protos.
2. Mailers: I hope to finally get going on the Early Bird mailer. If I can, I'd like to piece one together, but might consider buying a complete one if the price is right.
3. Luke: I'd like to finally refocus more time to Luke again this year. I still have a 79A that I'd like to get for Kenner and then start working on a few more foreign releases.
4. Display: I want to work on my display again by getting a few more cases made up and a few things framed. I'm quickly running out of room, so another display case or two might be in order.
1. Finished the set just before 2010 ended, so that one doesn't quite count. Never picked up the Droids Boba or a UDE, but did stumble upon 4 silver Droids and Ewoks proto coins. 2. Found a Early Bird Mailer locally. I've since got 3 of the 4 sealed baggies. Just need a DT Luke to complete the set. 3. Picked up the 79a, finally found a ROTJ-A baggie that Id been hunting for awhile, 70c Trilogo, Montgomery Wards 3 Pack Box, NSW Luke, and certainly one of the highlights was the Luke Jedi First Shot Torso Head Pull test 4. Upgraded my displays to Ikea Billys. Got cases for my EB envelope, EB mailer, and am caught up on my MOCs. 20121. Find that DT Luke baggie 2. Luke: find some more foreign items and it'd be great for another preproduction item like a cromalin or another proof. 3. Finally complete that Droids coin set with a Boba. 4. Have a blast at CVI and try to save up some spending money. 5. Finally get some pieces framed that I've been meaning to do. Bonus: - Darthberizing wrote:

Completely agree John! It's great to have people to talk with that also share your passion in collecting and it just makes it that much more fun. We were lucky enough to make it to WY twice this year to visit Chris and Aimee and that was certainly a highlight of the year for me. |

- As the title says I would like to hear about your plans for your Star Wars collection. I am full of ideas but not sure which way to go. I've started down the scary road of MOCs. I don't have enough space as it is. I would like to display as much as possible. I have not lost interest in loose variations but they are starting to get really expensive. A mint loose foreign variation can be equal in value to a decent 12 back. I do not think I could have a character focus. Sounds like I am undecided I like the idea of trading up & really do not like selling. Regardless I am having fun. I would like a plan for 2010.
that was 2 years ago!!!!! Well I've got quite a few MOCs now - no 12 backs ( maybe 50 other ones? I really should keep better track ) I still don't have enough room, I'm still passionate about loose variations & I'm still undecided about any collecting goals. I did quite well not spending too much money this year, my wife might say otherwise . Ideally 2012 should be the year I clear my collection of extras ( well I'll probably keep doubles but triples and more is just a bit crazy ) 1. My main goal should be to catalogue everything I have, it was a daunting task a few years ago ( I didn't do it then !!) but that's going to be number one on my list - same as last year 2. Sell/trade my extras 3. Get all ROTJ characters MOC 4. I'll think about it EDIT - GET TIM TO DO A LIMELIGHT 5. Keep having fun & finding a bargain or two |

| My only goal apparently was get to 50 Trilogos, oh well I didn't succeed! (in fact sold a couple of them either because I wanted to upgrade or because I needed to buy something else lol) but I was close enough (42 with 1 on the way) I deviated from Trilogos and my figure focus to delve into other lines during 2011, Super Powers, Real Ghostbusters and a few others so after indulging myself in other toys for a bit I think it is time to get back into SW properly. My goals for 2012: No more "other lines" toys unless very cheap Get back into steadily picking up Trilogo MOC Try for one of my big 8D8 focus wants: PBP/GMJ MOC Any 3D pre production piece POTF Crom/Proof 2 UP Highlights (purchase wise) of 2011: Trilogo ERG Kenner bagged sample Lili Ledy MOC Italian Import Trilogo Host of other minty or variant bubble Trilogos I had a pretty decent year of buying and selling Vintage so I can't complain |

| 1.) Get down to that event in Florida this summer, meet a couple TIG cronies.
2.) Complete my loose local figure run (no variants...yet). I'm 11 figures shy of a complete set. This is proving to be a great challenge since the focus is to acquire all of the figures locally.
3.) Continue to do what has helped me be so successful finding items locally during 2011.
4.) Sell/trade all of my extras.

2010 for me was really about becoming more serious as a SW collector (ie spending every spare penny I had lol). I started to build my loose collection and along the way picked up a mini focus for Luke XW and XWing stuff which will now come to a halt as I completed most of the items I originally set out to get. I also began a run of PIF Meccano adverts and picked up some nice oddball stuff.
2011:
1. Hopefully complete the loose run - need 14 of the last 17 + 7 regular figs. And also look for a cool way to display these.
2. Continue with PIF Meccano adverts run.
3. Pick up a few more oddball bits and pieces
Good luck and happy hunting everyone else in getting the things you want for 2011 What was funny was that I put down the X-Wing focus then picked it straight back up! My interest waned then ignited again. Didn't pick up so many oddball items... but did start up a cool SW vinyl records focus which was so much fun to collect and to listen to! Nearly completed the loose figures - need a baker's dozen! Maybe in 2016 I'll have finally finished lol Added lots of Pif Gadget Meccano adverts - almost completed that run now So, for me in 2012, it's going to be more of the same of the above good luck everyone in your collecting goals! |

| I should had posted in the thread last year so i could review my goals.... But i completed some goals i had in mind for 2011: - Complete my 12 Back set - done - Add 3 other main charactars on MOC that i liked (SW Greedo, ESB Fett and ESB Yoda) - done - Put a coin set togheter - (i am half way now, but its on hold) - Not SW, but also vintage related, add an Vintage MOTU He-Man Moc - done! As for my goals for 2012: - I like to reduce my loose figure collection with 75% - I like to finish room with my MOC collection set up as like to have it. - Finish my 20/21 back Cardback run to make the framing i have in mind for almost a year now. - Work on my coin set - Add an original MOTU Skeletor MOC. But maybe last and not least, try to spend less money on the Hobby (i am serious on the last one as we have our first baby on the way so.....) Love to look back at the end off next year to see how i did. |

| Looking back at my 2011 goals I was pretty much on track. Some life changes had caused me to revamp my focus lines but I still maintained to add a ton of stuff to my Mexican/SA bootleg collection. I pretty much sold off all my modern stuff as well as my prototypes (vintage/modern), artwork and pre-production stuff like I wanted. I still haven't been able to find one of my main Mexican grails, a mini-Jabba, so that once again will be my main priority. I did some rethinking of my bootleg collection and even sold off a few lines of that that I don't plan on completing anytime soon, so I used that money for more Mexican goodies. I did really well with a bunch of old Mexican three-packs and loose figures this year, finally got my yellow Snowtrooper, white Chief Chirpa, dark blue Snowtrooper, a couple Hans and a couple more Fetts off my want list among many others... and even a ship.
As for 2012== Unfortunately, beginning the start of the year I won't be around very much due to new career goals but will be quietly buying up Mexican/SA's as I see them from a few good contacts. That's literally about it. My main want list: Mini-Jabba White Fett White Ree-Yees Luke X-Wing Prune Face Han Trench Coat Yellow AtAt Driver Yellow Leia
We'll see how I do at the end of 2012, LOL. |

| Well i did not make any goals last year . But it might have been something like only get ESB moc's ..... But i then got bit by the pre-procduction /proof bug .... So my 2012 goals must be : Still have as much fun as i did , digging up this stuff every where i go. Always on the look out for nice stuff And the ever going research that i try to do on Danish vintage stuff and all the other stuff Get more general proofs , Q.C and Miscards . Ad some of the offer Bespin Guards and proofs that i need Maybe ad some more cheap moc's for my growing and growing love for price tags / Stickers on moc's And the new stupid idea " you have to much time on your hands , when you can come up with a idea like that for a focus" . Get some more stuff for my little "stuff that was owned by " famous" people / have more history then just the normal moc etc. focus " And then maybe get some of the moc's that have been on my list for a long time . ESB Luke Hoth , ESB At At Commander and a Luke Jedi Trilogo i think Do my Danish Toy store who sold SW Tribute somthing post Best wishes for all off you guys in 2012 Soren |

| My 2011 goals were to stop Hoarding Vintage Star Wars stuff and completely stop buying the newer items minus figures/items I REALLY liked and / or could turn around to sell for Vintage items. I only accomplished the 2nd part of those goals… My Hoarding went from 2 Ikea curios and a few “on wall” shelves to a loft dedicated to my Vintage Star Wars and now with 5 curios, a Large floor standing bookshelf, MORE wall shelves, and 2 closets almost stacked to the roof with stuff that there is no room to display, I STILL need more room. As for the stop buying the newer stuff, I accomplished that goal. I think MAYBE in 2011 I spent $100 total on newer stuff (besides LEGOS). I did however FINALLY get my center piece I had wanted for a few years now!! My Sideshow 12 inch Jabba the Hutt and Throne. 2012 Goals: 1. Continue my 7-8 year quest to find a MOC ESB LOBOT. And when I say MOC, I mean I want it to fetch a AFA90 or even a AFA85 if I was to submit it to AFA. I truly believe this figure does not exist!!! 2. Now that I live in Nashville I’m going to Celebration in Florida 3. Stop being lazy and sell off a lot of my duplicate carded and loose figures. 4. Use my handy wood working skills to build some “in wall” shelves 5. Stop my impulse Vintage buying just because it’s a good price on a figure I already have 15 of!! 6. Put more focus on acquiring items MOC that bring back some of my best childhood memories.

| I only started being active here this year, so I didn't have any formal goals written down. But this is a great chance to do that for 2012. 1. Finish my loose collection. This should be easy because I only have 2 figures left! 2. Continue my Canadian carded collection. 2011 was the first year that I put any real effort into acquiring a few figures after buying perhaps 4 or 5 over the last 5 years. I'd love to finish my ROTJ set. I'VE CAUGHT THE VINTAGE BUG! 3. Continue my Darth Vader focus. This involves just about anything, from modern to vintage, bootlegs to statues, and just about anything in between. There's ALWAYS something to find for this collection. 4. Finish my Galactic Heroes display. Yeah, it's a strange addiction, but I've had many boxed sets in the corner of my room begging to be freed for display on my shelves. 5. Continue adding to my modern figure dioramas. Spending on modern figures has dropped drastically in the last 2 years and is basically down to only "upgrading" older sculpts or adding first time releases. Thanks for the chance to join in guys! |

| Since I only started collecting this year, I've been adding to my loose collection on-and-off over the past couple of months. I'm happy to say that I've finally completed my first 12 (minus those expensive variants ) along with a few other figures that friends have given me. Next year I'll be looking to keep on adding to my loose collection. Then once my loose collection is done and dusted I can look forward to buying some MOCs. :bball: |

Hey Merlin Sound good with the goals , but IMO it would be like getting the moc's U-gradet , to have the actors sign on them . I have seen a lot of moc's signed . They ALWAYS go down in value and i think AFA would grade them lowere if gradet . And a nother thing is that that the ink from the pen can maybe over time go in contact with the cemicals in the picture . And destroy the moc over time. The next guy that owns the moc's might not like the fact that they are signed . So if you ever wanna up grade you might not get your money back . If you even can sell them . Again it's just my 2 cent . Best Soren |

| Soren, I think merlin was talking about getting one signed that was already graded, if I read it right. Ive seen it done before, getting the acrylic cases signed. The only thing you have to worry about then is smudging it on the case. |

| In 2010 I sold most of my collection and had only a few things left, so the big thing for me in 2011 was to start a fresh beginning. It took me approx. a year to put the experiences behind me until I decided to see what other opportunities that would present itself. In the beginning of the year I was part of the chat and was again inspired by some good people, you know who you are I've managed to get an almost complete basic collection, and have gained much more than I have expected of a Barada / skiff focus. A fun pattern to any collector it comes in threes - and I have therefore also collected Transformers and Mask. In 2012 I would like to find the cabinets that I need for my collection. Possibly, I will find the last 5 figure I need in my base collection, and keep evolving my "poor man's moc collection." I think the 2012 is the year I really create an overview and have completed the basics in my collection, and from there anything can happen. So I look forward to an exciting year |

| I never listed any collecting goals for 2011, so I guess I totally nailed it this year! Yayah!!
Seriously, though, I had a great collecting year. The Darthenon grew by leaps and bounds, as did my vintage collection in general. I really only have one goal for 2012:
1. Figure out what the hell to do with my collection.
For a good part of the year now, I've struggled with how and what I want to collect. I'm really at a crossroads, and can't decide what to do. I've simply run out of space for my collection. There's just to much stuff. And it seems to be getting more and more random. I have really enjoyed working on my Vader focus, and I know that is the one facet of my collection that will continue. Everything else is kind of up in the air.
Should I sell all of my modern? Should I just pack it up? Should I continue to collect modern? What about vintage? It's a huge endeavor in it's own right, so where should I draw the line with that? It's all just so confusing now.
Another thing to consider is that this year my wife and I finally took the time to set up a trust for our kids for when we're gone, and my collection is included in that. I know some might think it's not worth much being mostly modern, but even with bottom barrel prices on individual pieces, the sheer number of items makes it valuable enough to put in the trust. So I don't really want to sell it for that reason. But I also don't want to just pack it up and store it, either. I've always felt that anything you collect should be able to be displayed and enjoyed, or it's not worth keeping.
Also this year, I've gone completely ape shit with comic collecting. Late last year my town finally got a comic store again, and it's been downhill ever since. I have like 30 books a week on my pull list, and have been grabbing tons more comics on ebay and other online sites. So I have to account for that in my collecting space as well.
But I've wavered and wavered all year about what to do. And by early 2012, I will officially make a decision, and live with it. I really feel my collection is suffering because of my indecision. I've all but stopped buying modern items, and non-Vader vintage items, just because I'm in a holding pattern until I've decided.
So that's it. That's my only goal for 2012. |
