PostSubject: Droopy McCool flute original or repro?   Droopy McCool flute original or repro? I_icon_minitimeThu Apr 07, 2011 12:13 pm

hi, i recently bought a Droopy McCool flute on ebay but i'm not sure if its a repro or not. It's moulded black plastic but it feels a bit brittle and it floats in water, can anybody verify whether an original floats or sinks? I tried to upload a jpg of the flute but my attachment states max size per file 0Mb!? i'm new to the forum, am i doing something wrong?
cheers, Chris.

Check this out for some info. Compare yours with the pic.

I can't help with the black version but mine is moulded in gray hard plastic. And matches the details shown in the above link. It floats but that's not always an end all be all rule for repros.

Hope that helps.

Thanks very much mate that is helpfull, my version does match up nicely with the black flute on your link. Both with moulding points and levels of detail. Having never seen an original flute before i just expected it to be a bit more bendy. really Nice band pic too, thanks again.

Hi Chris, welcome to TIG,

Click on the icon titled 'Host an image' to the upper right of your reply message box - a window will open allowing you to upload your jpegs from your computer.

Here's my black flute, which floats in water and also rises back up when pushed down (some accs can float but sink when gently pushed). I wouldn't really say it's so 'brittle' - but it's not that 'flexible' either as other accessories.

Hi paul thanks for the advice with uploading images. i know what you mean about the plastic not bieng brittle, i was just trying to avoid words like rigid or hard in regards to a droopy flute Laughing
I feell pretty convinced that my flute is original after seeing both yours and Noobs images. Just tried the host an image tag and it uploaded the image to the servimg.com site but how do i get it from there to here?

Chris, there's a section on the FAQ under formatting and typing that may help you with uploading pics:

Your flute pics look fine Smile same as my one. On the top pic you can see a circle present about one third of the way from the left hand side. Nice photos btw.

Hi All!

New to the forum but been a reader and follower for a few years, finally got round to joining up!
I've got a question over Droopys flute... Last year I purchased a boxed set in excellent condition, everything was there including the original opened baggies. When I received the item I thought droopys flute was broken, which it sort of is... its too short but not actually broken. It appears to have been cast in two halves with the top part missing.

Below is a photo of the part flute against a genuine one. You can see on the second photo how the flute has been cast to allow the top part to beinserted. Both flutes float. I'm a bit confused, any thoughts ??

Secondly it has all the other cast points in the correct places, but the piece that sticks off the flute is perfectly round, not with flat sides as per the full length flute... see the pics.
