| your best bet to see which variant is the rarest would prob be to go to the AFA population report page!!!
That would probably give you a little indication as to what is more common or rare!!!
I do that at times when trying to decide which variant to go after!!!!!!!!
Hope that helps............... |

| "is theire a way to regonize what fig cam from what card back" not really. There are some exceptions ie. red hair Leia Hoth, orange hair farmboy luke, and most foreign figures ie. Top Toys only on TT cards? LL but some were available on MIM cards & PBP again some available on made in Spain cards etc. "AFA population report page!!!" AFA don't recognise many variants other than for example Hong Kong but there could be many hong kong variations.(hence why Tom Derby is interested in expanding on it?)"it theire a list on what variation of a fig is the rarest in it's charakter line" no rareity is too subjective & depends on where you are ie. Jimmy you could find Clipper cards more easily than I could. "i just jumped on the variation train " Lots of fun but very confusing."it's got to be more to it then just that it was in a different mold and in some cases a different country" YES but as far as I know many molds were used at a kenner factory then sold(reused) latter in a foreign factory where they were modified slightly ie. scarred out COO. Also the same cardback could have more than one variation on it ie. 4+ different tri logo Fetts. Got a headache yet? welcome again to the wacky world of variations |

| thanks for the welcome james
i was just thinking if a macau biker scout goes for 120 euro , i fig that one is the rarest in it's character line of variations LL goes 35 euro , usd if your lucky ,and in this one you can see the differents clearly
that's why it got me thinking that this must be so for everything, like ive heard that the rancor keeper with the taiwan version is the rarest in his line |

| The "AFA population report page!!!" means nothing when it comes to figure variants to be honest the AFA dont catalog many variants at all and dont really have a system for it. Half the time they put on the label what the person submitting the figure wants.

| I agree that AFA population report is not the most accurate way to research whats more common than others.
But his question about Rancor Keeper Taiwan... if you go to there page you would see these numbers:
Taiwan - 69 No COO - 105 Lili Ledy - 2
You can make a general conclusion that the Taiwan is in shorter supply than the NO Coo. And the Lili Ledy is by far the rarest!!!! |

| HAHAHAAHAHAH!!! Good point!!! Thats the one thing that can throw it off!!!! Not everyone sends in the common figures to get graded. But most people will send in the rare ones... so you will see high numbers of blue snags, yak faces, etc etc!!!!!
Use the population report to compare variants within the same figure!!!!! For example with blue snaggs you will see that the No dent in boot version is more scarce!!!! |
