I'm stoked for the tournament to start! The DVR is going to be smoking by the time this is all said and done. Does anyone know the time difference between South Africa and the US? I'd really like to catch the US vs. England match live, but don't want to get up at 3:00 to do it (if I can avoid it). Jay- I think I said something like that. Or was it you owed me a carded RC if England wins? I can't quite remember. |

| Not sure its gonna be a repeat of the 500-1 shock in the 1958 world cup but nothing surprises me when we turn up at these competitions and not always the best team wins so theres always a chance Dan ..... a big no saying 'go team USA' this is Football.....not soccer Tony |

| Chris, South Africa is nine hours ahead of you. So it would be 9am for you when the opening ceremony and match get started (4pm their time). This is one sport I never got into. Bad enough I like hockey. |

| England never seem to start well in tournaments I reckon it'll be a 1-1.
Whilst away in the States the other week a guy said how the U.S. were gonna beat us at the Soccer. Where the hell does Soccer come from???? Someone please tell me??? |

I have no idea where "soccer" comes from. Other than I'm sure by the time it started to catch on here in the states, we already had football as a sport. There are us purists that rebel against calling it soccer though. A buddy of mine that I played with in High School had "Futbol" on his letter jacket instead of soccer. As for the result of the England/US match, I'm really not sure. The US is notorious for starting off slow. So if they can escape the first half with a draw (0-0 or 1-1) then I think they might have a chance. If not, then it will be England all the way. On a side note, did anyone see that high-kick on Drogba that put him out of the tournament? Good lord!!!! |

| Chris maybe it should have been called American rules football (like the Aussies version) and then left the 'world' version as plain old Football.....anyway I am sure your right in that purists the world over will only ever call it football !! Well if your right and as Lee said we start off slowly as well its not gonna be much of a first match and a draw looks the likeliest result Did see the tackle and to say he was a little high was an understatement......mind you am not sure you will get many 'non' Chelsea fans showing much sympathy on that one |

Ice for me. I was a big fan of the Philadelphia Flyers when I lived in Pennsylvania. |
