Now that the warmer weather is here I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with receiving figures during the warmer months.

Last year around this time, and now this year, some of my figures have had a "tacky" or sticky kind of feel to them when I opened them. Most of them return to normal after a day or two, but it's got me kind of worried about buying some of the more expensive figs. I don't want to ruin them, but I also don't like the idea of having to wait until the weather cools off to buy again.

Just want to get your guys thoughts on this. Should I be worried or was this just a fluke.

I can't say I have ever linked sticky figures being down to certain times of the year but I don't really take too much note of when I buy, usually in Winter though, as its boring and you can't spend your money on being outside! lol

I don't think its totally unlikely to be the heat, I have had figures "tacky" from sellers and in fact you tend to find its more the ones that have been MOC (have opened the odd beater here and there) that exhibit this stickyness, its probably a mixture of age and storage conditions.

Also - storing figures in certain ziplocks will make them tacky, the plastic doesn't react well with some bags so its best to be careful how you store them.

I wouldn't worry too much as its not anything that a good clean won't resolve, so just buy away regardless of the time of year and any funny figures will have to just have a dunk in some warm soapy water Smile

I've received some figures that have felt 'tacky' yet had no obvious signs of dirt or grease. I'm not so sure it's entirely weather conditions as I've seen this in hot and cold weather - tend to agree with Joe that maybe it's plastic reactions between aged figs and their storage inside certain bags/containers/bubbles etc. I too wash any suspect figures in warm soapy water and just let them stand for a couple of days. Any 'tacky-ness' soon disappears. Smile

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I never thought about the baggie reacting with the figure. So far all of them have pretty much returned to normal without having to do anything, but I wasn't sure if I would be that lucky with future purchases.

My R5-D4 figure I bought last year is still tacky on the legs ,but I'm pretty sure the seller did a shitty touch up paint job with that figure before shipping it. I'm no expert, but when there's paint on the inside of the baggie it was shipped in, I think that's a bad sign, right?!!lol

Thanks for easing my fears guys, I'll continue on my spending spree worry free!
