| Since Wolff is not arround let me try to explain it...
Imo they used a different plastic and so the details come out much sharper. Personally I don't like the therm "hard plastic" since it is pretty misleading.
A therm like "high detailed figure" would be much more accurate.
I hope this helps.

| Jimmy and Dan, I already explained the hard torso term in this thread: http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/vintage-chat-f1/star-wars-collecting-101-qa-thread-t832-15.htm - wbobafett wrote:

hard torso's what are they , who are they , what do they look like, how to spot one next to a useall torso
wher do they come from , and is it contages , what's the difference in price , are they more rare , or does it depends where you live
also what fig has hard torso's or does every chracter have a hard and soft torso
pic's would great
thanks in advance jimmymindtricks to many questions at once mate!!!
Hards torso is called so, because the material is different to other use materials. All hard torsos are sharper deatiled. The white hard tosros figures normally look like painted white. Hard torsos were produced in the later production. Lots of firms produced hard torso figures: 1. LILI LEDY 2. PBP
and lots of TRILOGO and PALITOY figures as well.
I think the europeans used this material, because it doesnt yellow so easy as the normal material...but thats just a theorie. Ledy seemed to use a different chemical material...they seem to yellow more easy.....though.
The Hardtorso figures smell more vinatge...if you know what I mean.
(and BTW: there is also hard limbs figures as well.....these normally go with hard torso figs.....but not every hard torso figures has hard limbs )
hope this helps.
BTW: I have a hard torso r2 sensorscope for sale......
I think there you can see very well what a hard torso looks like:
Wolff I like the term hard and soft torso. For me it exactly descirbes the look from the figures: soft (or slobbery) details and hard (or sharp) details.

| hi dan, just in for a few minutes before I drive my porsche the whole day Hmmm you are right....just watched a sec...they are both hard torso. BTW: the hard torso is indeed harder material. It cracks very easy! Mainly on shoulder and neck. Its waaaaay stiffer then the other material used. U could make a tension-test, like made on all used materials in the research area in some firms.....I bet this material would crack under way lower load then the fromer used material! Wolff

soft (or slobbery) details and hard (or sharp) details. I am completly agree with you Wolff... IMO the called hard torso /TRI is not the same plastic as hard torso LL/PBP.Also i need to add that the PBP storme is the only one that have hard torso and limbs |
