| My new Palitoy RC came in the mail today ( ), and upon closer inspection I noticed something rather odd. I now have three Palitoy 65c with the Chewie Bandoleer offer. One is with the Tri-logo bubble, one is with the Palitoy bubble and one has the Palitoy bubble, but also has a Clipper sticker on it. The odd thing is they all say Offer Expires January 31, 1984. Open to UK Residents only. However on all the cardbacks EXCEPT the one with the Clipper logo the expiration date is blacked out with what looks to be a marker. I would've thought this was just a touch up of some sort, but to see it on two of the three cardbacks, struck me as peculiar. I would upload pics, but my card reader at home doesn't like me. So it'll have to wait until the morning. Has anyone else noticed this? Or do I have the rare marker variant? |

| Hey Chris, the two that I have also have the date marked out. Here's what it looks like. I just figured this was done at the shop that sold them as both came from the same source. |

I would agree with your theory as well Shawn, but mine are from different sources. One even has an old KB price sticker on it. The other odd thing is the one with the clipper sticker is the exact same bubble as the one I just got. The only difference (outside the clipper sticker) is that one isn't marked out. |

| I have also seen this on a few cards Chris, either it was done at a storage location/factory when the promotion was altered or it was ordered to be done in stores across England (before they got sent elsewhere for clearance sales etc) by Palitoy because of the change. Maybe not the latter but its not out of the question, perhaps a memo went out - get those markers out ! |

| Chris - Add me to the list as well. I've had a couple of 65bks with the marker cross out. ERG, Biker Scout and I think a RC as well |

Maybe not the latter but its not out of the question, perhaps a memo went out - get those markers out ! That's the only thing I could think of as well Joe. The offer must have been extended or something, and instead of printing out a bunch of stickers, Palitoy just ordered all store stock to have the expiration date marked out. I found this on the Palitoy Website "The rear of the card has now been changed to feature a mail-away offer for a Chewbacca Bandolier figure holder. This offer has an advertised closing date of 31st January 1984. On some cards the closing date text has been blacked out, apparantely by hand with some sort of black marker pen. This was probably to extend the period of the offer. No cards have been seen where this text has been removed by any other means or with any replacement text."It's still interesting though. |

| My palitoy Squiddie is the same with blacked out marker. I've wondered before whether it was sent to afa whether they would acknowledge this or send it back because of ink touch up |

| alright chaps, it is a factory 'marker pen' Thry obviously had more cash in the early days - the 41b has a blue sticker below the picture of the star destroyer, which blocks out the incorrect text, It looks a bit more meant |

| Here's the 65c entry from my palitoy guide:- http://www.freewebs.com/mrpalitoy/rotj65ccardback.htm As well as being used on the 65c, marker pens were also used on the 65d to black out closing dates. Jason |

Jason Hi Jason! Just reading your site notes. Nice work! I was wandering if you know anything about what the initials HN, HT, and TJ are? Are these definitely factory codes? |

| Also, do you have the Rebel Commando that is made in China rather than Made in Hong Kong? Another one to look out for? "There is a sub variation of this card which is made in China rather than made in Hong Kong and is known as 65CC. It says Made in China rather than Made in Hong Kong on the bottom right hand corner on the front of the card. On the back the letters HG follow the (ROJ/2) text. Rebel Commando is the only figure known to exist on this sub variation. There is also a sub variation where the letters HG follow the letters (ROJ/2) on the bottom right hand corner on the back of the card. This sub variation is 65CG and has been seen on the Logray (Ewok Medicine Man) and Bib Fortuna figures." Jason |

Jason Hi Jason!
Just reading your site notes. Nice work! I was wandering if you know anything about what the initials HN, HT, and TJ are? Are these definitely factory codes? I think the consensus is that they are, depending on where the cards where manufactured. The entry for 65a documents what I've seen from my large collection of palitoy cardbacks:- http://www.freewebs.com/mrpalitoy/rotj65acardback.htm "There is a sub variation of this card which is made in Taiwan rather than made in Hong Kong and is known as 65AW. It says Made in Taiwan rather than Made in Hong Kong on the bottom right hand corner on the front of the card. On the back the letters TJ follow the (ROJ/2) rather than HN. Admiral Akbar and General Madine are the only 2 figures known to exist on this sub variation, and do not appear on the 65A variation. There are also two sub variations where the letters HG and HT follow the letters (ROJ/2) on the bottom right hand corner on the back of the card. The sub variation 65AG with the letters HG has been seen on the Logray (Ewok Medicine Man) and Biker Scout figures. The sub variation 65AT with the letters HT has only been seen on the Biker Scout figure." :bball: Jason |

| So upon further inspection, my latest Palitoy purchase has China on the front AND the HG letters on the back. However, it opened up some more questions. Is there a China variant front without the HG letters on the back for Rebel Commando? Secondly, my China Rebel Commando also has the Palitoy bubble instead of the Tri-Logo bubble. I know the Hong Kong version exists for both bubble variants, but does the China variant also come with both bubble variants? I guess I have the same variation bug as everyone else (Joe!), just a different type! |

| I beleive all Made in China variants will say HG on the back. I'm not sure about bubble combinations, I was thinking of expanding the guide to include some info about that. Jason |
