Subject: Questions about the Palitoy Death Star Wed Jun 19, 2013 5:25 pm
Hi Folks:
I just saw this video
I just fell in love with the darn thing! To be Honest i feel it blows the other Death Star away for a lot of different reasons.
Just a few questions though.
Was it only made by Palitoy and Toltoys?
I just saw a listing on ebay that mentions Meccano in the sale.
Was this really available in Canada? I seem to recall that it was..
How much should i expect to pay for a decent copy of this?

I believe it was released in Canada, Britain, France and Australia yet despite being generally regarded as a Palitoy variation. They are usually quite expensive especially if boxed and then it would depend greatly on which box, I suspect the Palitoy would actually be the most common out of the four. Loose it is often difficult to find complete, there is a canopy on the top which is usually missing, saw a couple sell on ebay earlier in the year and a complete one (without box) sold for less than a hundred quid, which is pretty good really. I two think it's better than the plastic one in many respects, my mates got one and it is nice in the flesh

Hey Bud. I think that the Canadian ones usually go for around $200 - $250 for a loose one in good shape. Another local collector offered me one last year, but sadly, I didn't have the cash at the time, so I had to pass on it.

I know it would be a challenge to get a good one.
But that's 90% of the fun.
It just boggles the mind that Hasbro is not even capable of releasing something like this.
Imagine another Death Star playset made in the same way with updated graphic but retro style too.

Commander Clint, any idea how much a Kenner Canada boxed Half Dome Death Star Space Station Playset will be worth then?

they were released in Canada there were two different ones the on you showed and the taller one. You can still find both types at yard sales and such and when your lucky you can get them for next to nothing, I missed out on a boxed one for $50 last year someone else beat me to it.
