I recently came across a beautiful R2-D2 Bath product display while clearing out an old store. It’s in fantastic condition actually which is surprising because all but R2’s head is made out of Styrofoam! The Dome is made of some sort of thin plastic. I found a picture online of it that was taken from a catalog, but I can’t seem to find any additional info on it other than that it was made by Omni who produced a lot of those Star Wars bath products like soap and shampoo I’ve attached the picture. I’m wondering if it’s all that rare? If anyone has an idea of what it might be worth, that would be great too!

Anyone else come across this display before?

Any help you could give me would be GREATLY appreciated!

you pretty much summed up the main story with this beauty. as for being rare, i haven't seen many fs (and the last one i saw for sale was somewhere around the year 2000)
compared to a yakface, that makes it pretty rare.. as goes for much of the oddball items out there. that said, there's way less demand for oddball items, so the old question of demand and supply applies.

ps: i had no idea it was made from styrofoam! l'd like very much to see yours and the condition it's in, i suppose styrofoam is pretty prone to damage

I'll hopefully have a chance to take pictures of it over 4th of July weekend. It;s a little dusty, so I'm looking into how best to clean it up. There's absolutely no damage to the Styrofoam from what I could find - no chunks, dents, etc.. The Styrofoam is actually very hard and quite sturdy.

There is one small crack on the edge of the dome, but it's tiny and only noticeable if you are looking hard for it.

I was super excited to come across this piece and have been buying up unopened Star Wars shampoos and Soaps to try and fill it up to spec! I sell everything eventually as there's always another high priced piece I'm after, but for now I think it will stay in my collection.

Thats a killer piece you got. I'd also love to have one to add to my collection.

Like Wouter said, theres not that many who collect the oddball stuff of SW, besides me and Hyver. Theres demands for store displays, but mostly for the toy side of things. As for cleaning it, I'd just do a good dusting on it with furniture polish or anything that wont eat the styrofoam. Unless its real dirty, I wouldnt put soap and water on it incase something rubbed off it.

What a fantastic display! I can't believe the styrofoam has survived so long. I definitely have an appreciation for items like this!

Wow that's a great find! Congrats. I would definitely pick a corner somewhere to display one of those. Good too because you can still find lots of the original products for it quite cheap. Oddball stuff has a charm all of its own. Love it.
