Going through my stuff , I finally started a list to track my loose run but now I have a question about the "Last 17".
My understanding of the term means that there were 17 figures that were only released on the POTF cards.

If that is the case, I can only find 15 figures in the line, not 17.
However when searching on the "Last 17", the lists that show 17 figures list Lumat and Paploo as part of the '17' but they were released on ROTJ cards.

Here are the 17 I see listed a few times on the web:

1. Amanaman
2. A-wing pilot
3. Anakin
4. Barada
5. EV-9D9
6. Han in carbonite
7. Imperial Dignitary
8. Imperial gunner
9. Lando general
10. Luke Battle poncho
11. Luke in Stormtrooper disguise
12. Lumat
13. Paploo
14. R2-D2 w/ pop up lightsaber
15. Romba
16. Warok
17. Yak Face

So can anyone please help me understand the term "Last 17" and if there indeed 17 true figures that were only released on POTF cards, can you help me figure out what two should replace Lumat and Paploo.

I think the term last 17 has more meaning in Europe where they were not only the last 17 figures to be produced, they were also the only figures never pictured on any of the European card backs. On the tri logo card back the "POTF" wave were never pictured and Paploo and Lumat were blacked out.

I see it as the 17 figures not released on 77 backs.

OK...

So combining both replies, I can assume that the 79 backs ROTJ cards weren't released outside the US and that in the case of Lumat and Paploo, they only appeared on POTF or Tr-Logos for the rest of the world?

I read the theswca article which touched on availability of POTF and it stated 15 figures and I guess that's why I was confused on what the 17 meant.

So I think I got it now!

In Canada, both Paploo & Lumat appeared on 77 backs and both had MIM on them.
Hope this helps to add with the confusion.

OK... well at least for getting the correct line, 15 POTF figures and Paploo and Lumat were ROTJ officially.

I hope that's right.

I'm also correcting/organizing my database project and I just want to make sure the figures are in the correct lines even if there is oddities outside the US.

I don't think the significance is that 79 back ROTJ weren't produced in Europe. After all 77 backs weren't produced either. After the Palitoy, Mecanno and PBP 65 backs Europe moved to Tri Logos therefore there were 30 figures never produced on the ROTJ cards.

15 POTF
2 (Paploo & Lumat)
12 ROTJ 77 back characters
1 Nien Numb

However the 12 ROTJ 77 back characters and Nien Numb were pictured on the Tri Logo card backs. The 15 POTF and Paploo and Lumat were not.

A little OT but when I got into collecting I wracked my brain on how it worked.

You have 77 backs

Add last 17

But collect all 92...........

It drove me bananas

I have memories of Paploo and Lumat being available in the UK on Kenner ROTJ cards for a period time before the Tri-logo cards ( along with the rest of the last 17 ) made an appearance.

I distinctly remember me and my friends using the phrase 'Paploo and Lumat' quite a lot. We wouldn't have given a monkeys about them if there was Luke Stormies and Imperial Gunners to talk about.

I got what I needed to know for the root of US Kenner releases, but outside that, yeah, it seems to be a small mess.
