I have seen one of these but never heard about an orange cape squid? Is this a real variation or a custom? And if it is a real variant how much you think it's worth?

Yeah it's discolored. It's been discussed here and there with various theories. Overall it's just considered fading.

I'm working on a SquidHead focus, but want only official figures & variants. So I'm not going to sweat this one.

These are my Squid Head cape colour and texture variations (discoloration) with my 2 black cape custom's.

It was a long time ago, but it was probably over $70. That was before I found out it was discolouration and stopped collecting them, unless they came in a group of figures that were cheap. They are a cool little collection, but not worth the money that most people are asking for them.

I think I will just wait and see if I can scoop one up for under $100 but until then I will just concentrate on getting true variants for my squid focus.

Does anyone know what triggers the colour change???? Is it just sun light or a combination of things?

I think the orange capes are pretty cool, I paid £39 which is approx. $60 for mine back in August 2012.

I bid on one about 5 years ago but lost    it sold for £55 if I remember right. I didn't realize it was discoloured at the time so I'm glad I didn't win for that price. Still would like one because they look awesome

I wouldn't mind having one in my focus like I said before but going over or even close to $100 is a no no for a discolored figure.
