Meanwhile, Mercion the Cleric is escorted by the Fighter-Mage Elf Peralay to venture in the Badlands in hope of finding their friends Deeth and Bowmarc.

However, they will soon realize no one ventures in these savage lands unnoticed. The flesh-eating eight-legged terror Arachnea followed them for miles before she attacked. Who will be her first meal of the day?

Yes, kind of. Complete, Deeth can go at least for 85 USD.

But the rarest of the basic figures is definitely Hawkler the Ranger/archer, due to accessory count which makes it very difficult to find complete: a strap, a quiver, a knife, a bow and his eagle. I was lucky enough to find 2 complete ones on eBay, but this was 6-7 years ago. Now, he's nearly impossible to  find...

Geeze, that's a lot of accessories. Tracking them down must be annoying for those who still need him in their collection! :I am stupid:

Haha! That's where you got it all wrong: Peralay is a Fighter-Mage Elf, so he could easily get away with it with some good magic! Very Happy

Mercion on the other hand... Oh wait! She just got caught off guard and Arachnea just snap her leg!

Yeah, for that kind of figures, especially knowing the low production run compared to each figure of the Star Wars toy line, it makes him a precious figure to own complete and even near complete...

@JediPatrick Loving all the recent pics. How cool is that Fortress of Fangs playset! The Animal Planet figures work really well in the photos too.

What did you use to make the cave for the pic?  This is one of my favorite pics so far.  Also the torch light I assume is something photobucket can do or some other program?

I used simple colored black paper and cardboard, previously squished in my hands to give it some relief and embossed feel when assembled together. Very very simple design, really. And for the lighting, I use lamps and flashlights with orange transparencies. For the fire on the torch light, I simply use the free "Space Effect" App in the App Store. There are very limited choices of F/X in there, but some are still nice. Overall, it's a very very crude setup...  Smile

Here's another shot. This time the Evil Sorcerer Kelek summons the Fire Elemental using his crystal ball!

Yes, the spider and scorpions are really cool additions! And I have a Giant Beetle coming to me in the next week or so, so more pictures are coming!! Very Happy

Here's two shots I did earlier today, trying to use the cave setup as often as possible before I destroy it...

Some new shots...

The first picture shows Kelek mounting a 2-head wolf from the Toys'R'Us exclusive True Legends line of toys. Much like he did in the episode "Valley of the Unicorn" of the Dungeons & Dragons Animated TV Series back in 1983 (see 2nd picture). Okay, the wolf only had one head, but maybe Kelek run a spell on it and have the beast grow a second head. Very Happy

And for the third picture, it's Peralay mounting a Griffon. This comes again from the True Legends line of toys that were available exclusively at Toys'R'Us stores in North America. I really like this because it refers to Peralay's bio as written on his cardback: "Count on the elf fighter to come into battle riding a giant griffon or some other magical mount with his magical sword flashing over his head."

I think wolves are bad ass to begin with and that one with the red scar is killer. Is that a take on Cerberus from Greek mythology?

Nice pics! Very Happy

I don't think it's linked to Cerberus from the Greek mythology. These really came from the True Legends sets featuring Orcs battling Elves (see attached picture). They were just mounts for the Orcs in this set. But I know these originally came from Chap Mei in Europe in their Legends line of medieval figures, and the 2-headed wolf was naked, without the saddle...

Chap Mei made very nice beasts and figures that go well with the Dungeons & Dragons line. Glad some were sold in the True Legends line by Toys'R'Us. Same for Animal Planet, a line exclusive to Toys'R'Us. I have a very nice Red Dragon just waiting to attack the adventurers. He's coming in the next few shots... Smile

There's a few of the characters and monsters, but not many.

As far as the main LJN characters are concerned, there's Kelek, Warduke and Strongheart.

There's also Tiamat the 5-headed dragon, the bullywugs and the Hook Horror...

So... not many did make it to the TV series, but at least some did. Smile

New shot. :-)

This time, Mercion the Good Cleric ventures in the lower levels of the Castle Amber. As soon as she enters the crypt, she feels a cool breeze and instantaneously she knows that she may not be sufficiently strong to get past the doleful souls that roam the shadows in search of deliverance.

Just used the simplest setup as depicted here. I'm more an "old-school Lucas" or JJ Abrams type of guy I guess, using practical effects rather than CGI.
