Hello fellow collectors,

This is my first post so be easy on me!

I've been collecting vintage cardbacks for a little while now. My original idea was to collect all 92 Kenner characters plus Yak Face on the first cardback they appeared on ie R5D4 SW, 2-1B ESB, 8D8 Jedi, EV9D9 POTF etc.

Then I noticed that certain foreign cardbacks have a completely different picture of the character compared to their Kenner counterpart ie Lili Ledy R2D2. I have now decided to try and collect every picture variation! I have the John Kellerman book so know about all the Kenner picture variations (unless there are more?) ie the 2 different Boba Fett picture cardbacks etc.

My question is, what foreign cardbacks have completely different character pictures? I'm not concerned with cardback pictures that have been slightly altered compared to their Kenner counterpart ie Tri-logo IG-88 or those that have a different picture crop ie Tri-logo Amanaman. What I'm interested in is those with a completely different picture. From doing a little research on online I have found these variations:

Lili Ledy R2D2
Lili Ledy C3PO
Tri-logo Luke Bespin
Tri-logo Lobot
Tri-logo Leia Hoth
Tri-logo Tie Fighter Pilot
Tri-logo AT-ST Driver
Tri-logo Romba

Are there any more?

Hi JG It just so happens I am a big fan of the alternate artwork as well I do count the Tri IG 88 & Amanaman ( but I'm still missing those & FX7) I used this: http://www.rebelscum.com/feature-trilogo.asp Are you collecting the slight name plate differences as well ? ie. Death Squad Commander vs Star Destroyer Commander etc..
I'll sit down latter & see if there are more to add to your list

if you count the lasers added to the Tri Tie fighter- the Tri- green Rebel Commando should be on the list?
Joe (aka http://trilogo.info/ ) has a spread sheet of all the subtle differences- I haven't got that far yet.

Thanks for your reply and helpful links. For now I'm just going to collect the 92 Kenner cardbacks plus exclusive pictures on Foreign (and Kenner) cardbacks - I'm sure that will keep me busy for some time! Maybe after that I'll move onto other variations. From my research, I think it appears that there are 112 exclusive picture cardbacks - I'm currently on around 50.
Please let me know if you spot any other exclusive picture variations other than the ones on my list.
I looked at the Tri-logo Tie Fighter Pilot cardback again online and it's definitely a different picture to the Kenner version and not just lasers added in.
Interesting that the Rebel Scum Tri-logo feature didn't mention that the Tri-logo AT-ST Driver has a different picture compared to Kenner version. Like with the Tie Fighter Pilot at first glance it looks the same or slightly different, but on closer inspection they are definitely different pictures and not just alterations. This is what made me think there may be more variations out there!
