Star Wars #7 for 2015?

I hope they can go old school on 7, 8 and 9. This is VERY exciting news! I truly hope they can get the new movies right????

I'm still shocked but more than stoked that a SW film #7 is on the horizon - course, it might be a big howler depending who they get to act/direct/produce - or it might be completely awesome !!

I freely admit I got pretty excited when they released the Phantom Menace 3D this year So I'm def up for a trip to the cinema again for a new SW experience!

George did a great job, but age catches up with you. I think he is honest when he said he wanted Star Wars to continue but he see that the end is coming or that he is too tired to continue...

This can go in all kinds of wild directions. As long as Disney respects a few things like the movies opening and music and don't cheap out on the special effects i think this can go real far. It is also gonna give the chance to new directors to give their visions of star wars out to the public.

This will sure as hell change the merchandising though. I can see that maybe Hasbro loose their license and since Marvel is owned by Disney, Star Wars comics could go back to Marvel after the Dark Horse license expires.

Disney did not mess up with the avengers or iron man and did decent with spider-man so if they got their head on straight this could be a super boom for Star Wars fans.

This could be either a very good thing or very bad for our beloved movies. On one hand I am elated that there will be a new episode in a few years that I can take my kids to. On the other hand is this just a cash grab for Disney to pump out a crappy movie every few years?

Rather than retyping my thoughts cause I'm just damn lazy, I'll crop and paste my thoughts from RS...

I personally think this is great news. I like to see a new generation of film makers at the wheel, I don't see how it can be any worse than the last three movies made. And, with Disney at the head of it, we all know how their creative minds are and how serious they are about their movies. I already emailed a friend of mine from LFL and the mood is exciting and nerveous as you can imagine. Like he told me, having Disney now involved is crucial if more movies are to be made along with other projects (which he didn't elaborate). He did mention that with the Disney acquisition, he feels very positive about. Look at how well their other companies are doing. Good point.

As far as modern toy collectors, you will have more #@%$ than you know what to do with... with a price. However, it will be good to finally see some new characters out there. I just hope "kids" get the chance to buy the new toys so they can have the memories like I did.

As far as vintage collectors, this can be good, too. New generations of collectors interested in the original lines and maybe we'll see some upward trend in the market that we haven't seen in quite a while.

Me? I'm just looking for a new line of bootlegs to collect, LOL.

We honestly don't know where this whole thing will take us for a few years yet, I think it's too early to jump into conclusions about anything. As successful as the animated series has been my gut tells me that it's going to be big. Even though some of you may not be a big fan of George, there are a lot of good talented people that work for him... believe me I know some.

So exciting!

• New movies, hopefully directed while keeping in mind the long list of lessons learned from the Prequels
  
  
• Raising continuous attention for SW within the next generation.
  
  
• Thereby very likely safeguarding interest for the hobby.

Interesting news. Hopefully the next set of movies will be a lot better than we got with the prequels.

And will we finally get a quality bluray edition of the original trilogy? Just clean up the picture, beef up the sound and release it on Bluray.

Im pretty excited.

I bet Nolan directs one of them. He has credited star wars as an inspiration into becoming a filmaker.

VERY excited for new films! I'm completely buzzing! BRING ON 2015!

I am still in a state of shock.

I found out about it at 8:30 this morning as I came in to the office and got pounced on by my work buddies, I am still in shock now.

Not sure if I should feel over the moon that there is going to be more Star Wars, or sad that Lucas is moving on and it will never be the same.

I was wandering if any one else has be wound up today in work though? Everyone in the office knows I love Star wars so they could n't wait to ask/tell me about it when I came in. My email inbox is full of jibes and photos of George/Starwars with disney characters and my work neighbours have ingeniously fabricated huge Micky Mouse ears for the R2 D2 USB hub that sits on my desk whilst I was in a meeting. Just wandering if anyone else has similar day of piss taking.

The most I've gotten from people at work was someone asking if i had heard.

Remember the Black Hole- was it 1979- -- it was my nightmare last night.. Yes they DISNEY, have gotten better.. but..
I can only hope the don't follow the direction Lucas appears to have laid out- Going forward after E6- rather moving pre pre -the rise of Palpatine, Training of Dooku and Darth Maul- the training of Young Obi Wan and the R rated or the porno version of Shmee Skywalker getting the boink boink.. guess the last wont happen ..

AS for the Hobby, wait and see, there is going to be a GLUT of vintage on the market in the next 10 years and on as older collectors like me begin to sell off their hoards and retire off. It's market economics of all collectables. For example GI joes -12" peaked about 10-15 years ago and have now pretty much crashed .the 70's toy era will be next.. Will the class of 2030 collect 50 year old toys? glad to have a debate. High Quality will have a place always, but the run of the mill played figs will probably not hold more than a 4 or 5$ cap in the US..

I'll always regard George, even with his original trilogy tinkerings over the years, as a film-making hero - after reading this news (see link) his hero status has doubled...
