I was searching for some old Lili Ledy videos on Youtube this morning, when I came across this.
Baby Laugh A Lot!!
Seriously, what parents would buy such a creepy hysterical laughing doll for their daughters? Creepy stuff.
It even gets more scary when the batteries are running down.

lol I know there is a lot of discussions going around about the sexual discrimination on both ends, about why girls and boys can't play with the same toys. And I shouldn't be one to judge since I collect golden girl now at adult age though. But I just can't see myself as a kid playing with the buddy doll. I had a Ken doll I but its still never played with. Star Wars, Motu and Action Force, that was the stuff I liked.

Creepy stuff Marco I was ging to say it must have been the inspiration for Chucky, then you show the Chucky video Lol.
Not dolls at all - But it reminded me of the film Rabbit by Yemenese animator Run Wrake (based on childhood innoncence and making clever use of childrens' vintage learning books)
This is a must see if you like animation

Reminds me of an episode in the classic B & W TWILIGHT ZONE TV series, hosted by the late Rod Serling...
..or from the NIGHT GALLERY...

I wonder how may former owners of Baby Laugh'a'Lot are now receiving therapy?

Paul, the Rabbit video was very well made. What a scary effect to wrap the whole story into a style of innocent vintage learning books.

I don't know about former owners of Baby Laugh'a'Lot, but here you can read a story from a former My Buddy owner.
And here is another version of the Mr Buddy commercial.

Time for an update. This time with a commercial for Kenner's 19'' Alien from 1979.
Wow, what a great and scary toy!!
Unfortunately, this toy became a big marketing fiasco for Kenner. A combination of a R-rating (so kids could not watch Alien in the cinemas) and the nightmare generating looks of this action figure, was killing for Kenner's Alien line in the late 70s.

Oh, man, I wanted that ALIEN toy! I remember seeing it on the shelves at Lionel Playworld but it was $15 or something and my Mom wouldn't pop for it--especially since I wasn't aloud to see the movie (nevermind that I had the comic, and the book of the film, and the gum cards, etc)

Jeesus Doc, I used to hate those dolls when I was younger, my Grandma had one placed on the couch when I was a kid, always freaked me out when I slept at her house, and watching Chucky didn't help at all!, Thanks for reminding me.....

How did I miss this thread when if first came up?
I remember those commercials for Baby Laugh Alot and My Buddy. The song for My Buddy has stuck with me all these years actually. i remember my mom asking if I wanted one after the commercial was on. To which I responded "NO. But i'd love some new GI Joes."
