| Hi Guy,
I have a few questions about Kenner baggies. Everyone keeps telling everyone not to put their toys in ziplocs or baggies for this and that reason.
My question is: Aren't Kenner baggies any different than any regular current plastic baggies? I mean i am pretty sure Kenner did not use special archival acid free plastic to bag their toys way back then. Unless i am wrong and i admit i am a complete noob on baggies i don't get the freak on bagging your loose figures in regular baggies. So technically if a toy could survive well after all this time in a kenner baggie as evidenced on many auction sites, shouldn't a toy survive well in a modern baggie also if stored properly?
cheers |

| If you use the ones The Earth sell, you shouldnt have a problem with them. Ive used them for the past 4 years and had no problem. But ziploc baggies from the grocery store isnt good. They arent made for long term storage. |

| Some figures in baggies do discolour due to cross contamination of the plastics in the figure & the baggie, 2 prime examples that spring to mind are
1. Luke Hoth, the arms & legs tend to go dirty brown, one on ebay @ the mo & I have 2 the same from the rebel command 3 packs, have a look here -

2. Blue snaggletooth, the body tends to go a tinge of green
I imagine there are other examples, but they are the 2 that instantly come to mind |

| I'd say 3 out of 4 Kenner baggies are not 100% sealed, where a modern day zip lock is 'perfectly' sealed. Not being able to 'breathe' would make a big difference. |

| Good point James, I had not thought of including that info, most of the baggies came with a small factory made hole in both sides of the baggie to allow the de-gassing process |

| I brought my loose set of a guy who had them in the attic for 15 years they were in zip bags and they were mint! My theory is if you change the bags now and then you should be ok. I thought about making a hole with a hole punch for the air factor. |

| well to be honest i have mine in ziploc baggies at the moment. reason why is that i dont have proper plastic storage at the moment and i want to avoid my good figures ( mostly all of them ) rubbing together and creating paint rubs or other problems. I did not seal them completely, just enough so that the figure dos not fall out.
I am thinking of getting those plastic protector, the ones that look like bubbles on the card and put my figures in them when i get around to do it. in most case i am taking care of the toys i have now versus the owner who had them in bottom drawer or piled in in a box somewhere in the attic. I stored them in ziplocs leaving some room to breathe, then put them in plastic containers and then put them in one of my closets to avoid them getting sun as much as i can. If they survived for 30 years plus and got to me in almost mint shape, i guess they can survive a little more with me.
cheers! |

| The figures will still get rubs from being in baggies. Anything touching the paint will eventually rub it and leave smears over a period of time. The best way to solve that is to have a display case to put them in so nothing will touch them except for stands.
Heres the link to The Earths baggie page.

| Thanks Chris.
My ultimate goal would be to get a decent metal case that i could hand up on a wall so i can put my toons in it. I have seen one here on another thread that is awesome... something like a dartboard thing you hang on the wall and can close doors on it when not in use.... |

| Most of the displays you see here or on RS are made of wood, not metal. You can do a hella lot more with a wood-made display cabinet than a metal one. Besides metal rusts and Id hate to see any of the droids begin to rust along with it. |
