Hi folks, just a quick heads up on some new repro sabers on the market. I'm not sure if this late and you folks already know about these, but I recieved one today and thought I better mention it just in case. First of all I bought this from a seller who advertised it as a repro, so I wasn't robbed, it was the figure I wanted (thought I should mention that) However it's not one I've seen before. As most of you probably know, I collect Bespin Lukes and as most of you probably know, as the homepage identifies, the most common Bespin Luke repro sabers (as well as the Jedi green and blue sabers) are painted and are pretty easy to spot with the bad sciulpt and the rounded ring hilt guard. Easy to spot in pictures as well on auction sites which of course is good! These new ones are not as easy to spot in pictures, but still pretty easy in the flesh. Firstly they are molded in yellow plastic, but it is notebly darker than the real thing. Secondly they are a slightly better sculpt, the hilt guard is more like the original. Thirdly they are slightly shorter than the real thing and have a prominent sprue break at the back of the hilt. The one I recieved also has excess plastic around the tip of the saber, subtle but still present. Heres some pics: 1 - This is the real deal. 2 - This is the new repro. 3 - This is the old repro. I've ringed the sprue break and the new hilt guard, the whole thing is still not the best sculpt, but noteably better than the last, Be vigilant folks, I guess we can also assume that the Jedi blue and green sabers are also being made like this!

Just a quick addition which I forgot before, the float test. Firstly, there are five saber that can be found with Bespin Luke, as most will know and also as the TIG homepage shows, For those unfamiliar, here they are: From left to right: 1. the standard saber - found just about anywhere really apart from the obvious (Mexico) 2. No hilt depression (dull) - currently I've only really come across this in U.S. Chain store multi packs 3. No hilt depression (bright) - Hard to specify an origin, given it's likeness to the version 2 saber 4. No depression/fat hilt (dull) - Found in Europe on Palitoy/tri-Logo & PBP cards 5. No depression/fat hilt (pale/translucent) - Typically regarded as being unique to Lili Ledy, but also found in Spain. Here are those five lightsabers in water: Here are the two repro sabers in water, disturbingly, the new repro (2) floats! The picture above shows the two reproduction lightsabers, #1 is the standard painted lightsaber that most will be familiar with, #2 is the new saber, which is cast in yellow plastic and floats like the originals! Keep your eyes peeled folks!

Great job General! At least this new repro should be easy to identify from the features you have pointed out. Lets hope they don't make any which are more accurrate!

I thought it was going to be like this: http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t2523-craig-jedi-luke-blue-saber-legit But now the hilt is almost correct, it's going to be difficult to tell via pictures
