| Subject: ROTJ Vader MIM Sun May 15, 2011 8:29 pm | |
| I recently acquired another ROTJ Vader. It's on a 65-D card, and based on the saber, is obviously a MIM LL Vader. I can't look at the cardback, since the 65-D is covered by the Anakin Offer sticker. I now have MIM Vaders on 65-D and 65-B cardbacks, both with the pointing photo front.
So how many card backs does the MIM Vader appear on? I've been looking, and can't seem to find anything. Also, did the MIM Vader also appear on cards with the original photo front?
Any help in answering this, or pointing me in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated.

| As far as I know that's it. They really are the same cardback just one has a sticker, if you look behind the figure on the D you'll probably see the 'breather' hole. |

| I believe you can also find MIM Vaders on 77 card backs, so you should be able to add 77a and 77b to the list. I've never seen one with the original photo though. |

Man, I was drooling over Luis' collection this morning, and I didn't notice that! Thanks! Also, I can't see any hole behind the figure from the front, but I can feel a small bump in the sticker on the back, so I'm assuming the hole is there. But I also noticed that both of my MIM Vaders have a clear plastic sheet behind the figure. Is this only on MIM figures? Are there MIM Vaders without the plastic sheet? You can see it in the pic below. I just thought it was weird, because everything I've heard about the MIM figures having the hole in the card has said it was done at the factory to allow air and prevent mold. But it seems like the little plastic sleeve would undermine the little hole allowing airflow. |

| plastic is to stop the vinyl cape from sticking to the cardback &/or colour transfer. |

| It's just an assumption but the plastic could be there to prevent the cardback from heaving up from heat and discoloring the cape |

| So, I was looking at the 2 65-D Made in Mexico Vaders I have, because I was thinking of getting rid of one to move into other Vader goodness, and I noticed they have another difference. One is the standard card, and the other has the black sticker in the upper left corner on the front of the card. I know I've seen this somewhere before. But I'm curious if anyone has any more info on it. Here they are together. Here's the "normal" one. And here's the one with the black sticker in the corner. What was the purpose of this sticker? And I don't see it on any of the ROTJ US Cards I have, but I'm wondering if they're out there as well. Are there other cardbacks that have this black sticker in the corner? I'm especially interested to find out if there are other Vader cards that have this sticker, but US and/or MIM. Thoughts? |

| The sticker was just a quick fix to change the assortment number Tad Kenner changed a few figures assortment numbers during production, no idea why but again many of these small production changes are just the way things are when you are cranking out a product- they weren't always done with us in mind to fathom the changes 30 years later |

| Thanks, Joe! DO you happen to know if there is a list anywhere of which figures and which card backs this came on? And since it's a transitional sticker on the 65 back, is it safe to assume that there shouldn't be any of these in later cards like 77 or 79?
If there isn't a list going, maybe I'll start a thread to poll how many people have this black sticker, and see if I can start a little database. If there are enough, it might be kind of a fun mini focus to work on! |

| I believe it's a ROTJ thing only so at least you don't have to worry about earlier cards. As for which characters, I have seen a few on various figures but I have never made a list or know of one, I strictly know about 8D8 as I tracked down all the Kenner releases. There is a thread on RS that I posted in here - Wow this thread took me AGES to find!! Hope that helps and good luck on a list |
