| just curious of how many people have removed price stickers on their vintage cards. I know i have done it on my neo-vintage stuff but it seems to be the trend to leave them on the really old stuff...
what do you think? on or off? do you mind them or not?
opinions?
thanks |

| If it can come off with no damage, I have taken one or two off. But if it's clear it's going to damage the card, I just leave'em on there. Better to leave it on than to cause a tear in the cardboard. |

| I regret taking some of my price stickers off my cardbacks. Not due to damaging them (because I didn't) but because they are part of it's history. IMO don't do anything to your collection you can not undo. |

| Agree with James, I prefer the price stickers as to me they form a part of that cards history. Gives you an insight into where it's been and I think thats kind of cool. |

| definatly leave them on.i love the fact that they show the history of that piece, how much it was and where it was sold.i got a harbert dsd cardback, which was cool enought to find but it has a uk price tag on it from some bargin shop and it was 50p that was cooler knowing than finding the card in the first place daren |

+1 I never quite understood why people want to erase the provenance of a piece. The only reasonable rationale for price stickers being off-putting for certain collectors is when they are used to hide defects. There are techniques to remove stickers which won't damage the cardback or packaging, but in almost every case, even when you are able to remove it and all residue, there is still a very apparent contrast between the area that was covered by the sticker (more reflective and glossy) than the area of the packaging that was exposed. |

| I'm one of the converted. At first I thought it made it better but now I wish I didn't. It's cool to see Toys R Us, Target , Zellers, etc.. |

| Does AFA consider them defect and downgrade the card? |

| Absolutely held against the grade. If you put a sticker on to cover damage (and they discover it) I think they'll disqualify it too |

| i would be very on the fence with this... because if the sticker is real ugly or even all greased up with marker or something else then there is no point but if it is nice and tidy then yest it is a nice historical record but in all honesty did you buy the toy for the price tag or the card/toy....that is something to think of. I also think that most of the stickers were not really put on to hide defects but were put here and there by people who were just doing their jobs at the time...
anyways like i said earlier, i do remove all the price tags on my current purchases on my cards, while the glue is still fresh i remove them, did so on my votc cards and clone wars and legends cards i got on rebate from here and there...usually the big store do not apply stickers anyways but i did get a good amoutn of votc toys from smaller retailers...so off they went.... |

That is the case for 'originally' applied price stickers, but John was refering to collectors/dealers who re-position or transplant a vintage price sticker in order to cover up an area of damage. Some people will do this in an effort to boost the 'value' of a moc or mib for resale. Personaly I will only remove a price sticker if it is damaged e.g. torn. |

| I don't like price stickers on my MOCs or MIB items, so if it's possible to remove them, I will. Some are easier (TRU, JC Penny, etc), while others aren't worth the hassle. However, they are special stickers that I feel should be left on, such a cataloge numbers, etc.
