| Tried this question on RS but didn't get many answers so thought I'd try here I need some help verifying YPS Snowtrooper capes. Other than round holes and one glossy side, how can I verify that my capes are original vintage and not repro? Are there any YPS cape variations? I have 2 YPS capes that look different (pictures attached below). Both have round cape holes and a glossy side however one appears to have smaller cape holes and slopes along the top. Also the texture and feel on the non glossy side is slightly different (Very difficult to show in the pictures). Are both original vinatge? Cheers Oli Glossy side above. Non glossy side below. Cape on the right has small holes and slopes at the top! Sorry the pics aren't too great because I didn't have time to press them flat first. But hopefully you can see what I mean! |

| The one on the right looks wrong ( I'm not sure) there is a RS thread somewhere- SCARDS22 posted on it- but I can't seem to find it. |

| The only threads I can find on RS discuss the round cape holes and glossy side but nothing more!
The guy I bought it off told me that round cape holes, one glossy side and slope along the top was a way to identify a YPS Cape. I had heard and read something similar previously so thought nothing more about it.
But when i bought my next YPS Snowtrooper I noticed that it didn't slope along the top and the cape holes were a little bigger. (In fact the holes on the first cape are barely big enough to go on the belt hooks).
So now I don't know! Is one a repro? and if so which one??
Does anyone have a YPS cape that they can cross check with mine????
Slope or no slope? Big holes or small holes? |

| Hi Oli,
I compared my YPS cape to the ones you pictured, it looks like the one on the left. (Altough i am not sure what you mean with or without "slopes" on top?)
Cheers, Dennis. |

| Thanks Dennis, My pictures aren't great so you probablly can't see what I mean. I had trouble getting the capes flat so you may not be able to see the slope properly. I took a better picture over the weekend with the capes flattened so i will upload it tonight.. The top of the cape slopes downwards from left to right. It is only slight but still quite noticeable. I am presuming that since you can't notice, that your YPS capes don't slope The thing is the guy I bought it off, I thought was quite knowledgable and reliable, and he advised me that you can authenticate YPS capes by a glossy side and the slope at the top of the cape. I had heard this mentioned a while ago but don't know if its correct or not. Has anyone else heard about this sloping? Or have i got myself a dodgy one? |

| I have some (I think there are some) of the capes you show on the right. One of the holes is a bit smaller so you can't get it on the Snowtrooper that easy - or?
I think it is legit.

| Phew... Thanks Uli, That's good to know. the quality looked to good to be repro.
Yes one of the holes on mine is almost too small to hook the cape on.
Maybe these capes came with a particular YPS Snowtrooper variant.
I'll have to check which COO scar mine has? Is yours a single or double scar?
Cheers Oli |

| Thought you meant that, but indeed i did not see it in the picture anyway mine doesn't slope and the holes fit thight around the hook's, but they are not 'to small' to get them on properly.
Anyway, i bought my YPS hoth stormtrooper togheter with the YPS magazine from a German guy on the german eBay.
It was the second i YPS i bought and the cape's where alike. (I remember when i bought a repro cape with round holes to compare them with and the quality off the repro cape wasn't like the original one), so i am pretty confident on mine.
Also tri-logo hoth stormtroopers came with scarred COO's and round hole capes i believe, so maybe there is a difference there?
Cheers, Dennis. |

Oli - there are far more different coo areas for the Snowtrooper than only single or double scar - so I'm really sorry but I can't answer this. Uli |

| Out off my head, but i think the COO on mine is the same as the third one in the top or bottom row on the COO chart from Wolf that Uli posted. Anyway it's a double scar at my YPS.

| Thanks for all the help guys! So seems like mine is legit and that this YPS cape is just a variation that might come with a particular COO scar. I will double check the COO Scar against your chart Uli. I will post some pictures for reference but having trouble uploading at the moment.
Cheers Oli |

| Here's a better picture with the capes flattened. The cape on the right (that has small round holes and slopes at the top) came from a Snowtrooper with No 1 COO Scar in Uli's chart. The cape on the left came from a Snowtrooper with No 3 COO Scar. |
