Hiya guys,
Just wanted to post up something Andy (Plantman) has posted on SWFUK.
Andy is diamond geezer who has helped me out a lot in the past with both technical issues on my laptop and
also being a mate to speak to when I was going through a rough patch.
A few of us over on SWFUK have donated to this and I'm sure a few on here may benefit from Andy's IT skills while helping out a good cause.
Here is his post :
Hi all
I am trying to raise funds for a genetic disorder charity (PKU) my daugher suffers from this so i had this idea:
In exchange for a PDF guide on how to keep your home computer in good shape, and my attention to your PC related questions/problems you donate to the PKU charity.
(Im an IT manager so dont worry)
Times are hard i know so there is no minimum, but a maximum of £5.
All money donated will be sent via cheque and the resulting print out in the PKU newsletter will be added to this thread.
Here is a little bit about PKU:
My daughter suffers from a genetic disorder called PKU (Phenylketonuria) This means her body cannot break down protein, if protein levels build up it can cause irreversible brain damage and behavioral problems.
She cannot eat foods that contain high protein, and this means almost everything we eat is not available to her, meat, fish, all dairy products, pototo, pasta, bread, some vegetables ect ect.
The PKU charity develops prescription foods and cooking plans for people with PKU and makes our life much easier.
She lives a perfectly normal life thanks to the heel prick test done at birth, and the prescription foods and replacement solutions she has.
It is very hard to manage her diet, and make sure she doesnt eat anything she shouldnt, and im sure it will get harder as she gets older!
The PKU foundation are brilliant and so id the Sheffield childrens hospital so we like to give something back if we can
and my daughter appreciates it too...what a smile
So drop me a PM if you are interested and ill give you the details and you can fire away with questions
Please pm Plantman, maybe he can respond to this so you have a point of contact
