| to TIG. Unfortunately, due to the 'deformed' shape, that looks like a stripped Taiwan helmet as well. The Taiwan helmets are used because the paint is easily removed & it doesn't 'bleed' into the plastic like the Hong Kong helmets. |

Do you see any remains of paint when looking with a magnifying glass?

| In that case it might be a thoroughly stripped one or maybe it is a real Taiwan unpanted helmet. Question is, what is a real unpainted Taiwan helmet? Do they exist at all? And if so what might be their origin? - On Page 2, Dr Dengar wrote:
Back to the question what might the Taiwan unpainted helmets be, stated they are not fake:
- First shots/prototypes for the Taiwan type helmet? (like the Earth’s Certificate of Authenticity stated for one of the helmets in the pics): Not very likely, reading the quotes above. FS helmets are made from a harder material. Probably the Earth made a mistake here (see also Spidey_Seth’s quote)
- Unpainted helmets that passed through Quality Control and were carded with the Boushh figure: not very likely as no MOC has shown up sofar.
- Off specs helmets which got a bit deformed during the injection mould process and which were subsequently collected and kept apart for recycling purposes: I like this explanation the best. It might explain the rougher surface of these helmets. Maybe a factory employer took a few out of the factory and they eventually came in collector's hands. In this case the helmets are off course no production items.

| I don't know whether it was tried before, but it sounds like a good idea using a beater helmet and a solvent.
What solvent? Isopropyl alcohol? |

I've just had to look that one up, according to the link above it evaporates. So will it be any good.
I know it's crude but I thought brake fluid was one if the best paint strippers? |

| Hey Guys - I can probably help with this little experiment I have 2 very worn Taiwan helmets I could use as test subjects . Tell me what I should soak them in and I will do it Maby I should try different solvents on each one  I can post before and after pics - maby even stages in between ? After the experiment is complete I will do custom paint jobs on them so there's no chance they will ever be passed off as something they aren't |

| I've used this paint stripper in the past on other things, I know my dad has some in his shed. Question is do I have a spare helmet?

| It looks stripped to me, across the edges there appears to be small elements of paint left on the helmet.
I'll take mine out of storage this weekend and upload photos (if I dare!!) |
