After lining up my moc's to take some pics i realise i am not going to have the space for the full set.
My aim was to own every figure on either ESB or Tri Logo, but the space is just not there Sad

I have more love for the ESB compared to the tri's right now, so do i just knock the full run idea on the head and just aim for ESB?

But then im not sure i have space for 50 ESB's.

I thought maybe just aim for the first 21 figures but on ESB cards, but then that misses out loads of my favourite figures like ig88.

The ony other thing that interests me is to sell everything, and just put together a nice set of 12 backs.
Im so busy doing the house up im not gonna have much time for SW, but a little run like the 12backs would display great and still keep the interest alive.

What would you guys do? Any suggestions?

How much space to you have available Del i.e how many MOC's could you fit on display?

Unless your the the type of person who has to have things uniform or complete e.g 12 run, first 21 on ESB etc etc then i would just pick up the MOC's i want and not worry about them been part of a run.

I just buy MOC's for the figures that i love and i have Palitoy, Tri logo, Kenner, Canadian, clipper etc a real mix from different issues lines etc and i think they still display great Smile So if i had space for 25 MOC's then i would put together 25 MOC's of my favourite figures, MOC Logos etc without feeling the need to have a complete or specific run.

Add YET to the end of the above sentence - Who said you have to have them all on display instantly? you could rotate once a month to keep things fresh on the eye and it gives you a reason to tinker with your toys so to speak Wink

- Definitely stick with the one you enjoy looking at or collecting the most!

Again don't worry too much about instantly displaying them, if you had the room for your baggie collection, mocs + loose figures in the past then you have enough "space" to house the mocs maybe just not as you wish just yet - that could all change in the future and if you sell or stop collecting them you will have to pick them up again!

- Well a nice crisp set of 12 backs would be a nice treat on the eye and its a smaller run so it sounds like a good idea but I can swear I remember you doing that before and you sold those as well?

End of the day I think most people who collect don't quite have the display thing either sorted out or even the appropriate space to do so properly and give their collection the room it needs, but even if displaying stuff can be very rewarding , ultimately its only an aspect of collecting, if you are desperate to display some SW regardless with what it is or what it means to you then I vote for a smaller run (like the 12 backs) and get working on a neat display cabinet, if you really want to go for a bigger set because you enjoy them from a collecting point of view then worry about displaying them at a later date.

Joe

Can you post a few pictures of the room you display your collection? Maybe there is some hidden space you only need to prepare for MOC...

Thanks for the input guys. To answer a few questions. I do have a space set aside for some shelves. Looking at the space i think i could get about 40-50 moc's in acrylic cases. The unit i used for the baggies is no good as its within reach of my 3yr old lad lol. I'm the type of collector that needs a target to aim for, so a run appeals to me more that picking up bits and bob's. joe, i did start a set of 12 backs but they were pretty beat, i bought them in a lot of gary smith and they were cheap but i couldn't live with all the flaws. Also cash was tighter then so i couldn't afford to upgrade them. I'm thinking i may just stick with the esb run and sell the tri's. Sorry btw for lack of paragraphs etc i'm on my mobile.

Im terrible for this sort of situation, collecting things and not displaying them and moving onto something else.

I vote for the 12 backs because displaying them is key for me.

Del how about taking some god pictures of you colletion and have the pictures run slide show on one of them nice digital picture frames ?
And the just have a few of your most beloved stuff on display in real life.

That saves you up a lot of disply space. You can edit your own display slide shows just how you want it. To make the runs you are in the mood to see on any day. It will keep your collection away from your kid and other destructive stuff like sunlight :-)

And you got a nice reson to go out and get a new camara and a HUGE display frame Very Happy

Any way it was just an idea i got when i read your post .

You should collect what you want not what you can fit in a display.(even though I've come to realise a display is very important) You'll regret getting rid of those minty clear MOCs you have- I certainly like the idea of ESBs on ESB cards & ROTJ on Tri cards- all clear bubbles. 1st 12 on a Star Wars display doesn't take up much room.

To echo what others have said already, definitely collect what you want/enjoy.

And Joe, gave some great advice. You don't always have to have the full run on display all the times. And if you already know your goal and want to keep yourself oriented on that, then go for it. You can always work on the display as you go. You said it yourself, things have started to slow down for you.

Tastes always change and you will always find new ways to display, organize, rotate your collection. Just do what you love and feel is right and there's nothing wrong with it then. Very Happy

Cheers guys.
I've been doing lots of thinking and have changed my mind loads of times lol.

Anyway, im gonna stick with the ESB run and knock the tri logo idea on the head.
I can live without owning every figure moc.

I keep changing my mind about the last 17 tri's tho lol. Yesterday i was selling, but i've just been looking at them and i don't think i can part with them Rolling Eyes
Plus its such a small run to complete i think it would be fun to finish it and then decide what to do unsure
