With all the variant nerds here on board I thought it may is a good idea to start a variant of the week thread

Here is my start with Leia Hoth (sent the pictures to Javi recently - so it is a pretty easy start for me):

You can find two different mouldings for the Leia Hoth. A version with dots on the rank bar and one without. There are maybe other small moulding differences that make more major variants - but so far I was not able to find them.

I think it's a great idea, Uli. I'm not a variant collector myself, but it's fun to read about all different moulds, colours, marks etc.

Cool idea Uli, nice pictures also, it would be worthwhile (if you are going to keep going) to create an index / master list thread where you can link to all these discussions (a bit like the figure of the week index threads over on RS)

Would you like people to post up pictures of MOC's as well or just strictly discussion/ pictures on loose figures?

Imo it is too early to think about an index - my intenetion is not to start a one man show here

Everyone can post whatever he wants. MOCs, close up pictures of weapons, painted lip / unpainted lip variants etc.

I think it would be a great idea to have a TIG figure of the week thread.

Actually looking at the pic it was the leia on the end that was the really chubby one lol.

The 2 hong kong ones had slightly different sculpts, paint and skin tone was completely different.


Its been years since i collected variations so thats all i can remember.

I dont have anything to add as i sold my Red Haired Leia Hoth to Andy the other day and i own no MOC Leia Hoths. I once had a Nice Kenner 48 back AFA 85 a few years back but there was slight discolouration to the top of her legs I did disclose that in my RS Post at the time regardless of the grades i felt it was the right thing to do someone on scum got it off me.

I may still have an old pic of it ill try and dig it out

Now you probably cant see the discoluration to the top part of leias legs on those pics but in real life on the shelf it stood out and it was the main reason i decided to ship it out at the time.

Still a nice MOC though

Here's a slight oddity, Leia MIHK with unpainted neck and chest emblem. The picture on the right is my Leia Hoth with
shiny green hair. It may be paint degradation/oxidization or whatever but she is still cool as f**k. Next to her is a dark hair for comparison.

Hi all ,
Just received this Leia in a big lot ....
Have pale brown face details and embleme,very dark brown hair and black arm detail.The plastic of the head seems to be not as translucent as the regular leia.Also have a mold factory error on back as the early POCH figures(rebel commander black boots , Han very dark brown panths and the painted white panths Rebel soldier hoth)
I think is differnet from Uli´s Leias.....

What are the differences between your two no coo 2 line brown hairs
and your two chinas. I can maybe see slight facial differences?

The blaster of Ulis GM Leia is in the bottom right corner of the double-stem blister.

Colour of hair, hair paint starting higher and lower, etc. only very slight differences...
