70A= Hybrid (Trilogo back Pal front)
70B= Common "Palitoy" trilogo
70C= Cardstock + print variant, has a larger white area outside the figure with the TM info inside the white racetrack
70D= Last 17 with barcode

Here's what I've been able to piece together John.

This is all according to Mr_Palitoy's guide: Mr. Palitoy's Guide

70A- Is the Hybrid Tri-Logo. It has a front similar to an offerless Kenner card (65A, B, 77A, 79A) except it has the tri logo version of the Ages 4 and Up text (like on the Palitoy fronts). The back is what is considered the tri-logo portion.

70B- Is basically the "normal" Tri-Logo.

70C- Is basically the same as the 70B, except the race track around the figure extends further down the card. So basically the LFL copyright info is in the race track instead of underneath it.

70D- Is the barcode front version like you already mentioned.

Hope that helps! Very Happy

And there were only 6 figures released on the hybrid cardbacks: Greedo, Hammerhead, Snaggletooth, Bespin Security Guard (White), Cloud Car Pilot and Bespin Security Guard (Black).

Very Happy

Just remembered this old thread for even more trilogo variation talk -Trilogo variations

I really would invest in a book though, I didn't have it back then in January and since I did pick it up its been something I have on my desk at all times, even for a quick flick through its great but the information inside is second to none.

Actually Tri-Logo and Palitoy variants are dumb and really boring.

I don't know why anyone would bother collecting them.

lol!

This coming from the guy who used to say he didn't care for books. lol! I'd also recommend the book if they haven't sold out yet. It's one that I for sure need to spend a bit more time reading.

Ugh! Bubble variants!

I know there's a few of them, but I have the hardest time telling the difference between them all. So for me, personally, I just want the square edged (or corners, or however you say it) and the rounded edge (like the Palitoy bubble) and I'm probably good to go.

tongue

If books were free I would love them Wink

No seriously, I did spend a long time thinking why buy books when I could spend the money on Vintage, but it takes a lot of work to put one together and buying one out of your monthly SW budget sometimes feels like a lot but it helps the author who has put in so much time into such a projet and it broadens your knowledge, its true a LOT of the stuff in any book will also be available on the net in different places but its good to have a little reading at hand sometimes especially when not at a PC Very Happy

Buy it! Laughing

Also I agree, trilogo variations are boring and should be left to the retards like us to collect, nothing to see here move along Wink

If I knew what they looked like and could tell the difference (much less find one), then probably! Razz

You don't by odd chance have a photo of what one looks like do you Joe? Wink

And yes, the Meccano to Trilogo book is awesome! I would highly recommend it to anyone that is thinking of getting into Trilogo's. Or Meccano's for that matter. I would contact Stephane directly to order one. As I know he was running very low when I got mine earlier this year.

The large "etched" bubble also exists in the same size but rounded thats why thats my normal "rounded" type Razz

Yep the book explains lots of overstock bubbles from the Meccano ROTJ figures were carried over to the early French Trilogo cards. Just like Palitoy bubbles.

See I told you I was terrible with my bubble variants Joe.

Simple terms, it has to be simple for me to understand! It's like talking to a third grader! Very Happy Razz

So excluding the old Meccano bubbles -the etched and rounded are the easiest to find of ALL the variants , between the two the etched is by far the easier to find and both are mostly on 70b's / C's.

These are the same size but as the names suggest one is completely rounded and the other has the edges/ridges/etched parts lol

Here is the rounded -
4 Differnt Trilogos??? Tri_lando_large_04_bg
Here is the etched - 4 Differnt Trilogos??? Tri_vader_etched_04_bg

The rounded one you and I just spoke earlier about would be an early French Trilogo and not a normal rounded, so there are in fact 2 kinds of "rounded" but both are different shapes/times. Although I don't know 100% if an RC has a rounded but if you can find an etched you can normally find a rounded, they seem to exist in quite equal numbers and were probably produced at the same time.

A little?

As I told you in chat the rounded edge I'm talking about is the part that attaches to the cardback. Very Happy

I can't wait to see your new photos though! So maybe I can finally figure this one out!

OK so me, Chris and Shawn, talked this over in chat, Chris was referring to the plastic that is attached to the cardback (The plastic part that is heat sealed) and I was talking about the actual edges of the bubble that holds the figure and doesnt quite touch the back of the card, thats whats normally referred to as the bubbles edge.

A few pictures later Chris has a new variant fetish Laughing

Looking forward to seeing what you have at home Chris, I reckon its etched (or stepped/spooned/scooped/aerodynamic as you want it called lol)

LOL! Good lord, I still can't believe it! I'm sure I'm not the only one that didn't/doesn't understand what an etched bubble is. Very Happy

But yes, the bubble on my tri logo RC does in fact have an inner bevel edge (or etched for all you laymen out there). lol!
