, A few pictures from my visit to this years War & Peace Revival.. Many fine re-enactment groups where in attendance depicting historical event from W.W.I right through to modern day conflict, with a fantastic selection of military vehicles on display:
Kicking off with W.W.II Allied & (admittedly mainly) German displays:
Domestic chores in the German encampment.. not just the large set piece battles are recreated at this event:
American vehicle pool..
Early & late war British light artillery display teams..
It's been blistering hot here, in the U.K., this past week.. fresh water supplies where made by every type of transport imaginable..
.. but the dust, in the main arena, added a nice sense of authenticity to the event.
The Russian T-34 is a truly awesome sight to behold.. the roar of the engine, transmission noise & clanking of tracks must of brought much fear to the enemy:
2018 marks the centenary of the R.A.F., represented at this years show by this small display of (replica) Spitfire..
Many more photo's to share with you all, highlights including Vietnam & "Blackhawk Down" displays after this short break..
Thanks for looking, T'Shot

A real highlight for me was this Challenger Tank:
Challenger was the British M.B.T. during the 80's to early 2000's & played an important role in both Gulf Wars..
.. this is the only one in private ownership & it's the first time I've seen one outside of a museum & actually (so to speak) in "action", it's a most impressive vehicle with a decent turn of speed:
Dating from the same period of time (in fact they're still in frontline service), mainstay of the British Army: The Scimitar armoured reconnaissance vehicle..
.. it's small size, affordability & road legal status make this a popular purchase for military vehicle enthusiasts.
This metal "fencing" was, an upgrade, to protect against R.P.G's.
A real Cold War warrior, the FV432 A.P.C.
Something a bit more exotic: The Shadow
The Shadow was a prototype built, by the Alvis company, for testing by the British Army.. essentially it was a copy of the Hummer.
"Special Forces" display setup outside of a representation of the gates of Camp Bastion:
Replica of the kind of pic-up trucks used, by private military contractors, in places such as Afghanistan & Iraq:
Off to Mogadishu next...

Man alive, what an awesome event that looks! So much attention to detail with the vehicles, uniforms, equipment and scene setting. Plus, the hot and dry conditions really adds to the mood. Love the Rugged Robin lol, the Vietnam War peace camp, the huge array of helicopters, actual tanks driving about too!! Love the town siege scene with the downed chopper (so much detail in that). Thanks for sharing so many pics and cool you picked up a few goodies there too

Wow, what great pics of this event. Some of these vehicles it is a wonder they were even considered for military use. Open passenger compartments like on the hummer prototype seem like it would offer zero protection to its passengers. What is the deal with the vehicle with the monkey statue on its hood? Why a monkey and that large? The Vietnam conflict and BlackHawk down ones were really cool to see. Thanks for sharing these.

I think they were just taking the monkey to the bar... really... when I returned later in the day, to the Vietnam encampment, it was sitting on the Bars roof with a bottle of beer in its hands
Sadly my camera batteries died before I could take a picture but, at the show, I saw a guy walking around dressed in full on Rebel Commando Endor gear... in fact, thinking about it, for picking up all those belts & little ammo pouches, the shows large army surplus market would be a cos-players paradise.
Here's a few snaps from last Saturdays East Kirkby airshow.
