| I don't often try to bring religion to the forum, but I need some prayer requests. My nephew who is mid 20s had a stroke last night and the stroke has caused swelling in his brain. They are doing surgery as I type this and I was just informed. All of this is very last minute info to me. Apparently the surgery is to take part of his skull cap off to ease the swelling. He was found having a seizure of some sort is what started this off. Whatever religion you are or if your not religious even, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We, my wife son and i , are about to go to the hospital now in Dallas. I don't have any further. To john and others, if you want this removed I understand. I don't often mix religion in to the forum but this sounds bad. I probably won't be on the forum much more for the day, but you never know. Thanks in advance. |

| A little update.
My nephew had a brain bleed that was causing him to have a headaches and neckpain. It was unknown that it was a brain bleed he just thought it was a headache and soreness. Anyway the blood caused swelling which made him have a stroke. The brain continued to swell so they did surgery to remove part of the skull to allow for swelling. When doing the surgery they found some damage to his brain from this that had killed some of the brain matter. They extracted that part and said that they had to moved larger pieces before from people are ho recovered. They said the damaged part of the brain was in the motor control section,so likely he may lose temporary (hope it is temp) use of some motor control but don't know the extent yet. So that is where it is right now. Until he comes out of sedation, which they said they will keep him under for a few fays to try to allow the brain swelling to decrease, we are ontbknow the extent of damage
Thanks to all of you for thinking of us during this.
My sister looked really worried, but seemed to brighten up after the surgery was done. He is not out of the woods but on the road to get out. |

| They turned the ventilator down so that he has to breathe on his own more. He has his moments of consciousness and while he's awake he's able to shake his head yes and no for questions. So far it looks promising the only thing we know for sure is his right arm seems to not move so he may have to learn how to do that again. The legs toes and the left arm as well as his head neck all or mobile. |

| Oh geeze, that's rough.. but the positive note is that everything aside from the right arm is functioning. Not to make it out to be less of what it is, but that seems like a small drop in the bucket compared to what could've been.
Glad things are where they're at now. Keep us all updated. |

| Just a little update.
They put a trach in his neck to assist the breathing. He had this done yesterday. Today he was able to sit on the side of his bed and was able to respond to questions by shaking his head. He can move his legs and left arm, but his right arm is still unresponsive. He can move his fingers though, so maybe it will be able to come back with rehab. He did catch pneumonia and they have him on antibiotics. Apparently this is common for people who have the tubes and whatnot he has had running down his throat and chest. Now with the trach they have pulled those tubes so maybe the pneumonia will get kicked with the antibiotics.
Many thanks to all who took time to think of him and for those who prayed for him. We still have a ways to go, but all signs are looking good for now. |

| That's good news. What's unfortunate is how vulnerable he was to catching something due to his low immunity. I'm sure the suped up antibiotics will knock it out, and he'll be under 24 hour care.. so that's great.
Wishing him luck as always. |

| Good news! One step at the time. He's been through the worse, now it's a matter of climbing back up. For sure it's gonna be like hell, but with love and support, and for sure some time, he'll make it through. Courage, buddy, we're thinking a lot about you and your family... |
