Wanted to share this one with you all. It's from a friends collection, not mine unfortunately. But it's one of the more striking examples of an MOC mis-card I've ever seen. Something about the Snaggletooth/Yoda combination is particularly exotic.

All on a great condition ESB 41-D back.

Hi Jared,

Your friend has a lovely piece there. However, it is NOT a miscard. It is actually a mock-up/sample. If you look closely at the bubble you will notice that it is lacking the stem found on all SW & ESB Snaggletooth MOCs. This piece was specifically created to test the positioning and size of the 'new' bubble design for the ROTJ Snaggletooth - it just happened to be that some unused Yoda cardbacks were to hand at the time. Also of interest is that the bubble is a prototype (possibly hand cut) - look at the squared off, as opposed to rounded corners. There are 2 known examples of this piece (possible in addition to this one as I do not know your friend Very Happy ) and they originated from a find in Australia.

I hope this is of help and congrats to the owner - lovely piece of history.

regards,
Christian

It is a mock up sample as Christian said. I owned it and sold it to the person I assume you grabbed the pic from.

When I got it, I was told it was a test to check bubble integrity and wieghting

Very interesting comments guys, my friend will be very pleaded to hear this.

I think this exact example is likely to be a new addition to those already known. I was with my mate when we found and purchased this from a place called "gateway models" in the Brisbane area in Australia. This was in 1994/95. It's been in storage ever since.

So Christian, it fits in nicely with your anecdote about these being an Australian find. We were able to go through boxes of what seemed like old trade stock in this shop. This piece of course stood out.

Thanks for the extra information about this piece!

Cheers, Jared
