Was sorting through some of my vintage adverts today and thought I'd share a few bizarre and cool ones here.



UK. Maybe the only time you'll get to see C3PO holding a gun and R2 drawing a sketch??





French. Floating heads in space and glowing Millenium Falcon! Aciiiidd!!






French. I think this one was also used by Clipper and Germany.
I love the zombie hand and the creepy tentacles grabbing Vader.






USA. Luke in his little Doctor Who car






USA. Bedding and toothbrush.







France. The famous Pif Saynettes. This one translates:
"R2D2 was quicker. He warned the rebel soldiers by code. But on the horizon..."








Denmark. Next to all the funny toys some figures and even a moc!







USA. Cool MPC model kit.







USA. Cool digital watch.

I always wanted that model kit. Forgot all about it. Not really doing the SW thing right now but may have to see if I can hunt one down.

Great and fun set of advertisements.

I like the Meccano add, poor Greedo and Snaggletooth being captured by a Hoth patrol.

What were they doing there in the first place? It's too cold for them out there.

Another Saynette, C3PO looks completely drunk and Luke looks like he's inserting his saber right up Greedo's backside!

Is that actually George Lucas enjoying a furry ride there?

I know full well that the Meccano ad team were allowed licence to pretty much do as they pleased with their adverts ... but what in the name of sanity is going on here??

This certainly made me smile!

What is the actual translation?

#1 Ben is taken out in combat. Luke is the only one left to save them. (had to look this one up for a bit of help )

#2 C3PO and R2D2 free the beautiful Princess Leia. But the demon Darth Vader is not far away!

I really like this one! Old Ben looks like he's getting ready to chop that trooper in half!

Cheers Bruce. Added those to the advert section. I Like the Halloween ad - LOL at Chewie's mask, wig and teeth !! The Heroes World ads are always fun.

Forbidden Planet welcomes to their London store Prowse and Daniels, 1980.
The ad mentions they hope to receive a visit from one of the 'American stars'.
Wonder if one of the American actors actually turned up on either of those two days   Or just some blag to get more people to go.

UK members might remember that Dave Prowse played 'Green Cross Man' in the late 70s early 80s TV ad campaigns for road safety "The Green Cross Code".
