I have decided that as I search for things and dial in the concept, I will also use bootlegs for sure and even customs as stepping stones or heck, even permanent fixtures if I can't find something different enough that I would need to point out or explain the differences between the two.
So who knows where this will all end up but I am excited!

Congratulations on the new additions Jay. The colour of your Chewi looks dark enough to be Ledy IMO (close up pics will help if you have doubts). Is the bowcaster pure black?

Wait ... you do or don't believe???   haha... sorry... just a bit confused.........

I thought it is Ledy but perhaps not super dark like in the Ledy thread's far right one from Marco???
The seller is a known one but of course that doesn't mean anything. He is darker than my other Chewies, but honeslty, he looks darker in the photo than in my hand or in direct sunlight. Then again, direct sunlight makes everything much different.

And at least to my eyes, the bowcaster is black and looks unlike the others I have/had. Its definitely not blue/black and no translucent areas at all against strong backlight.

I don't have a non Ledy with that COO to directly compare so I am stuck with two HKs (don't know the families without checking).

What should I check?

You know, when I was typing and reviewing that, I thought to myself that might be confusing! DAMN! I guess it was! My question is about the Snaggles........

Having seen your comparison pics of the Snaggies in the 'Latest Purchases' thread, the colour of the plastics & red paint in the mouth look right for PBP/Euro IMO.

Got me as well. Probably I need a pair of glasses, but am still in the denial phase.

The Ledy Chewie is a shade darker compared to his European brother, but in general that is difficult to see on pics. A Chewie might also look darker because of lightning, camara settings etc.
That's why I always look at the eyes. Small white = Ledy, bigger white = European.

It is IMO only the rarity that makes this one special. It is the no coo one that is nearly impossible to find. I know of 4 examples in collections.....not much is known on this one. Most examples travelled from one collector to the next...so it could look like there is more of those....but isnt.

ROG had the first example...sadly his pics are gone (webshots). I will try to dig out a pic of mine but I am guessing Lee, Marco or Kenneth are faster

It is a regular production variant but one of the rarest coos ever. I rank it personally under the top 3! Not much is known....where does it come from?? (found in GB, Spain and Germany if I remeber right?)

As for Hammerhead, I really like the paint-variant with eyes looking to the right.

It's only a tiny difference and you have to look closely but if you put him to the right, he and his "normal" brother would look suspiciously at each other.

Patrick.... I have a few ""crazy eyes"" Hammerheads, but they need explanation when people look at them.  But!!! I love the crazy eyes HH variants !!!!  

Overall though, the concept is how I love it when people look at the display and say why two of each???? but then they immediately start saying, "OK, that one has brown hair and that one has yellow" or "her eyes are different" or "what the heck is that?" when looking at a bootleg or custom... then the conversation kinda can get more broad about the worldwide history which is pretty cool.
However, Hammerhead and Power Droid don't have that shock factor right now so I am at a little loss.

I like it so far and a great thing is I will always be able to swap and move pieces in and out, upgrading and changing.
So far that and my gross MOC run have, for me at least, been so much fun to do and will continue to provide a cool way to collect a certain focus that can adapt and change over a very long time period!
