| *** Having all those discussions about foreign figure variants, bootlegs, boxed stuff, oddball, and how to recognize repro accessories, it feels like we have slowly drifted away from another important area of the hobby: MOCs!!!! Why not give MOCs a bit more attention on TIG? To start, I have just went to my modest MOC collection and picked out the three cards which I like the most at this moment. I was thinking to present them to you as my personal top-3, with a liitle bit of background, why I like these cards so much. In about a year from now (I have put a reminder in my agenda), I will again post my top-3 in this thread, which can change off course because of new purchases.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________
Please show your favourite MOC top-3 from your own collection, and add – if you like - some background.
(favourite top-3 doesn't necessarily mean most valuable top-3 ).
______________________________________________________________________________________________________*** My top-3 (in random order):Rancor Keeper, Trilogo 70 back. Rancor Keeper was a figure which I never liked that much. I mean, look at the guy, he is an ugly fat guy without a shirt, the total opposite of a pretty slim girl, wearing an iron bra. No need to tell that Rancor Keeper was a big NO GO to me. But that all changed when I got into Ledy collecting. I needed him to get a complete loose collection. And it was quite a challenge to find a complete RK figure with genuine Ledy accessories. Most of the Ledy Rancor Keepers from ebay, turned out to be Trilogo versions which look very similar. The Trilogo Rancor Keeper became my worst enemy while hunting for a Ledy figure . And because of that I suddenly had more interest in the Trilogo version, and Rancor Keeper in general. He was no longer an ugly fat bastard, but the brave tamer of a ferocious Rancor monster, a figure which you should rescpect. Only a few days after finally obtaining a complete Ledy figure, someone offered me this beautiful Trilogo MOC. Pure coincidence. Or was it?! It was like Rancor Keeper was saying from inside his bubble, “Now you have the Ledy Rancor Keeper, you should buy me as well!”. The rest of the story you know now. *** Squid Head, 65 back with Tsukuda import sticker. No doubt Squid Head has been one of my favourite figures since my childhood. Great sculpt, soft cloth, cool belt, unique grey gun, what more do you want? Well how about a Squid Head on a card with a beautiful Japanese styled sticker at the back? The red ROTJ logo on the black background is plain beauty to me. So the combination of a favourite figure with a great design sticker, was simple irresistible. *** Boba Fett, 21 back, Kenner Canada. What more is there to say… http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t1628-canadian-boba-fett-21-back-esb-we-got-him *** Thanks for watching, guys! And looking forward to see your top-3...

| Oh boy, finally a MOC thread!! Assuming we aren't going into bootlegs, here's my top three. It's mostly due to the logos and not the characters though. It's really hard to pick three. I'll go with three I own instead. The 12BK Meccano full size 12bk MOCs and Harbert's are also badass Canada's 12 Back GDE Logo Italy's Harbert ESB logo And who doesn't love a Gluestick!! |

| Hmm, i love foreign logo like the clipper, meccano, toltoys,.... 12backs. And i prefer the SW logo MOC's above ROTJ (i do like the ESB logo aswell). So if i had to pick out an Top 3 out off my personal MOC's, it would be these 3 below in no particular order. I picked these because i like photo-art or color combinations or figure itself (or a combination). SW12Back Han Solo. I love artwork with the colorcombination off the green backdrop behind the figure. SW21Back Greedo. This card has simple artwork, but the contrasting colour off the Orange background, makes the bright green figure stand out perfectly imo. ESB offerless Boba Fett. I love this one because its such an Iconic figure and the ESB logo is just awesome. |

| Wooohoooo - another excuse for a limelight of MOCs. This is my top 3 MOCs with their stories:- 1. R2-D2 Wind Up KennerCanada 18back AFA90 - 90-90-90. The R2 Wind Up MOC was a holy grail of mine since I started collecting MOCs more than 10 years ago. This was when eBay was still in its infancy. A seller was selling a beautiful example (or so I thought) and I made a deal with him off eBay. I got his contact number and even spoke to him over the phone before sending payment. Bloody bastard screwed me over after I sent payment (more than 1000 USD - which was a lot back then) and he never sent the item. When I tried to subsequently contact him over the phone, the number was no longer in use. It was my first and only bad deal gone wrong and I was taken for some money. It left a bitter taste for me and I stopped collecting for many years after that. I bought an example of this a couple of years ago on eBay and it was my first major purchase after so many years. That example brought me back into collecting MOCs. You can say that it was one of the iconic pieces that defined my collecting life. I subsequently upgraded it to this current piece. If I am not wrong, this is the best looking graded piece that is out there - what more can I say - just see the sub-grades. It is also the highest graded item that I have. Enjoy More detailed pics of this piece can be found at https://s1144.photobucket.com/albums/o489/marky024yeo/Vintage%20Star%20Wars%20Action%20Figures%201977%20-%201985/Wind-Up%20R2-D2/18%20Back%20Wind-Up%20R2-D2%20AFA90%20-%2090-90-90/ 2. Uzay Emperor's Guard MOC This was my first fantastic deal that I managed to score on eBay when I came back into collecting. I remember 2 Uzay MOCs were being sold by the seller - this and a Tie Fighter Pilot. Michael Vogt got the Tie Fighter Pilot. Both had the same high BIN. As there was a make a best offer function, I randomly submitted an offer of half the BIN. This was immediately accepted by the seller and I managed to close this deal for a very good price. Believe me - I tried to get the Tie Fighter Pilot but Michael just hit the BIN. ..... The Uzay ERG MOC has a beautiful card but pity it has a major crack at the top of the bubble. Here it is - enjoy More detailed pics of the piece can be found at https://s1144.photobucket.com/albums/o489/marky024yeo/Vintage%20Star%20Wars%20Action%20Figures%201977%20-%201985/Uzay%20Savascilari%20ROTJ%20Collection/Emperor%20Royal%20Guard%20%20-%20no%20cloak%20Uzay%20UNP%20YC/ 3. Ben 12 back with 32 back sticker This is the only known example of a Ben 12 back with 32 back sticker - the Ben 12D back. I bought it on eBay in an auction that came down to the wire. It was not listed properly so I think a lot of the variant hunters were not clued in on this auction. What made this piece really special was because of how I managed to get it. It was obtained with the help of Cal Evans. The seller in the auction had blocked international buyers so I could not bid on this auction. I contacted Cal who agreed unhesitatingly to bid on it for me. Cal did not ask me for any deposit and took my word at face value that I would send him payment and indemnify him for all costs that would be incurred including shipping fees. I gave him a high maximum bid for him to manage and he did so. I think that he was submitting bids for me at the last minutes of the auction while he was driving. Thank goodness nothing happened out of that. I was so nervous about this auction, I stayed up to watch it and to see if Cal won it. I was so happy when he did. After all payment matters were settled with Cal, Cal even helped to send the item to AFA for me to get it graded and low and behold, it graded a 85. This is a beautiful piece and a piece that cemented my faith in other collectors to help when needed and certainly Cal earned both my respect and gratitude in how he went out of his way to assist. For that I am always indebted to him. Here is the piece:- Of course, I have some other favourite MOCs ... But their stories are to be told in another time Cheers, Mark |

| There are some fantastic moc's on show here & some great stories behind them! While not rare, here are 3 of my favourites. Kenner 77bk Leia Boushh. Great sculpt & the figure displays well in the purpose made bubble. [img] [/img] Kenner 65bk MIM with Ledy accessories. This was my first MIM moc. Hopefully next year I'll complete the run. [img] [/img] Meccano 20bk Jawa. I've always had a soft spot for Jawas & I like the completely different stye of this cardback. [img] [/img] |

| Spot on, Dennis. Having almost 1000 members it is hard to imagine only 7 TIGers have MOCs in their collections. I PMed a few guys last weekend of which I am sure they collect MOCs. Mark has already followed up (thx!) let's wait for the others. Also when collecting MOCs is not your main thing, you probably have some cards in your collection, enough to make a top3. I am a loose figure geek and even I managed to make a top3. This is not a contest about who has the most rare top3, but about sharing your personal top3 and (if you like) some background. So come on guys show us your top3.
(BTW: Also a great opportunity for all lurkers to step out of the shades and make this your first post. We would appreciate that very much!).

| Hello everyone this is my first picture post on here. These are my top 3 (The DT Trio). One of the best things about the luke is that it is the luke used for the Kellerman Book. I had a complete afa graded Gi-joe 85 and higher moc collection 185 total that I traded for these 3, 2 years ago. I hope you all enjoy the pics. Thanks Jeff

| Well, she doesn't have any DT lightsabers to speak of , but here's my top three! Princesse Leia Meccano 20 back This one is my favorite in my collection, I think. The French logo, the smaller size card, really make this one stand out from all the rest. Princess Leia General Mills German 45 back The lack of the Kenner logo on the front, the drop shadow around the ESB logo, and the blinding white color of the figure are just amazing on this one. And the German text on the back is super sweet. Princess Leia Trilogo Aside from the three language logos, I think the main reason I like this one so much is because of the pristine bubble and card. Very, very hard to find in this condition. I have thought about trying to remove that sticker, but I'm going to leave well enough alone! Great thread! |

| Okay, here are mine. Sears Skin Wrapped. Big thanks to Eagle Eye Stanley for spotting this one on the bay and giving me a heads up. It's a bit of a train wreck but suits me just fine. Next up is a 41e moc with a paint error. Another one that I got through a collector on RS that had spotted it at his local comic shop. Lastly is a 79 back. That came from a fellow Aussie with a fetish for Toltoys stuff...Thanks Marc. Sorry to disappoint any Ewok fans...no Ewoks guarding things here. |

Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight Outfit) (Palitoy 65 Back) why?...a cloak, a palace blaster, a light sabre, man this guy has it all |
