Wolffs Death Star Hangar in his limelight thread is amazing i hope to put one together next year myself.

Wolffs Death Star Hangar is indeed amazing

and i hope i can bring my to a good ending.

as i said before it still a work in progress

i started with a making blueprint from watching the movie

then started cutting the main arches out of foam and glue them with tech 7 silicone

the diverent levels i made from mdf



then plastert every thing

I've said it before Jimmy, even though it isn't quite finished, that thing is fucking awesome. My wife thought it was full sized movie props.

made some progress again

it's getting more and more fun making this thing the way it evolves

is great , to bad i ran out of plaster tonight , i did start making something else to put in the palace

Don't worry Jimmy, we all know Josh and Wolff are holding out on us and the rest of us are far too clumsy or stupid to even attempt such a time consuming and intricate custom !

I think it looks fantastic, I can't wait to see it finished, it really is well detailed congrats man!

I plan to do some custom figures in 2010 now that i have my collection room back i may attempt a small diorama as well. (Im a total novice though)

time consuming is right , finaly found some time yesterday to work on it again

again i did some demolitioning , to reach that little more level of perfection toward the real palace

have to say iam verry happy that i did what i did as i was in a big dilemma , i mean to break part of or not to break a part of

well i did and iam planning on finishing the plastering part of building this tonight

so keep an eye out if you want to see the progress


ive been reading that most people use airbrush to paint theire dio's , i have no paintbrush skills so it looks like iam gonna be fucked

Jimmy easy man..
Get some Tan spray paint or even sand dune color!
Spray it black first then go over in tan/sand ! leaving some slight bits of black coming through!
Also! if you really want to be tricky, paint it with a watered down wood glue mixture first.. cover it with sand to give a nice texture. Let dry and then spray it the colors you want. Alternatively you could just go and buy a can of fleck spray which will give the same texture!

I reckon you would of used a spray can once or twice in your life

spray paint hey , never thought of that , and yeah i was a master at one time , did alot of requests from bar's to beachparties to childerens rooms, plus the random bombing , did something for an energie drink aswell some years back

i'll see how that goes , do you reckon i put on a primer first; or will theplaster sucking up the paint give it an extra effect

btw search your pit and barge on rs , but you have deleted most of the pic's

You shouldn't need too
Just go easy and do a few coats... I recommend the sand or fleck spray mate..you will LOVE the texture when your done!
With the glue way it doesn't stick, whick looks even better..makes it look really weathered etc by time
