Definitely more "Off Topic" fodder but I'll play along.
I'd say the phrase is something of a shark jump in and of itself to begin with -- seriously, how stupid was the rebel leadership to leave the squid in charge of the attack anyway? As it is I think the whole "It's a Trap" meme produced some really funny and creative ideas but is past being worn out.

I had to look it up to be sure ...
jump the shark : a term to describe a moment when something that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity .
I like this better though ...

The term "Jump the shark" means what ourchickenshack said above. I'll add that it comes from the episode of Happy Days where The Fonz is in Hawaii and he does a water skiing stunt where he jumps over a shark. After this episode people felt the quality of Happy Days was never the same again. So "Jumping The Shark" became a term for something not being as good as it once was.
