Guys I'm in need of a proper education on Earth Find. I've seen it mentioned in the past and reading another thread...it's come up again and I've tried to piece it together before and now, but I just can't figure it out

In Steve's great preproduction limelight there is a link to the Earth Find.

Ok done. Thank you yet again Dr. After following your links and reading and trying to piece it together I came across this which cleared it ALL up for me http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13033 Of course the Title 'Earth Find' does make one think it may have been some kind of archaeological project of some sort with digging up the Earth and discovering buried SW treasure...which of course it is not Outstanding knowledge gained and I can go ahead and check that off my list and say at this time that I never see myself owning any of the First Shots and I'm quite content with that. -Cheers and thanks again

The Earth has been one of, if not the best "hot beds" for Star Wars prototypes over the years. The earliest I am aware of goes back to 1995, when some hand painted first shots were "found". Steve has done an excellent job at educating us with each find and providing a rock solid province for each piece.

Thank you for the kind words guys : ) The thing that is so much fun about researching the Earth finds is that you can trace pieces to collections like Bill McBride (DDT Vader), the prototype translucent DT tree that Mattias has ect... That company had some serious connections to former Kenner employees and the finds they made were amazing!!!! Some other cool stories I heard about the Earth came from Tracey Hamilton. Tracey would venture there weekly when he was in high school (I believe it was high school, but could have been college). He would buy items from finds before they were put up in public sales. I own a couple of the pieces he picked up before they were made public... The 2004 Earth find was just amazing. I've done a lot of research on finds and that one seems to be one of the best I've heard of. But there were other finds too, like the one found by Jordan Hembrough (Hollywood Heroes/Toy Hunter) made that included most of the first 12 first shots. Also, some of the finds that people like Chris G, and Ron S were involved in with RF Fetts. I would have loved growing up in the area of Cincinnati and been able to do research and detective work to track some of that stuff down back then... -Steve

The Earth has been a solid source for the majority of the known jawa first shots. Of the eight I am aware of, four can be traced back to them.. What a fun place to visit as a teenager with money to spend..

I remember going out there around '96 or so, and just nearly passed out when Darren showed me an entire SW vinyl case FULL of prototypes (among other things). Oddly enough, to this day some of those pieces haven't seen the light of day Of all my figural prototypes, nearly half of those can be traced back to just The Earth, and that's really saying something Bill
