| For anyone who doesn't know (and you shouldn't since I'm not worth any of your brain cells) I have a simple rule that I never deviate from. Barring something unique (like an EB Set) I only collect one of each production figure. So in short my production collection is the "Collect all 92" plus the 2 other R2s, C3PO, Blue Snag, VC Jawa and the Rebo Band. If I choose to buy a figure , I sell the other.
Now I collect foreign MOCs as a focus and also try to get other unique things (like a 2 pack, 3 pack) but within the 1 figure rule. I'm finding that I am slowly but surely making it hard on myself. I have a 3 Pack with Han Bespin/Ugnaught/Lobot for example. Now if a Han Bespin Vaccuform figure is available, I have to either buy it and sell the 3 Pack or pass it up. It's crazy, but I don't deviate from the rule.
Anyone else have a code they follow? |

| My rule is to never have more than 50 of any one figure, and I just broke that rule with Bespin Luke Only joking! I like your rule John, kind of adds a bit of 'decision' to the whole thing, and I guess the final collection would look amazing seeing all the figures present but in so many random packages, but Hell I'd struggle big time with that rule, I'm a hoarder, and struggle getting rid of stuff! As for me personnally, I don't have a set collecting rule (aside from obvious, no repro stuff), and not so much rules but I try to set my self goals per year and I usually fail them all apart from my year by year set goal which is Continue the bespin Luke collection! My overall collection has suffered greatly because of that little Bespin Bastard! |

| I'm a variant collector with a personnel goal of trying to complete my kenner, ledy, glasslite, top toys, pbp runs etc...
But I still have 2 golden rules.
1. Steer clear of coo variants. 2. Steer clear of minor 'batch to batch" differences.
It's getting hard as the items I need are becoming fewer and fewer, which is why I've now trying to upgrade some of my older items.

| I like your mindset John, but imo a vacuumform Han is not the Same as the 3-pack, so imo you could have both. However i am in a kind of way like you, for example, i don't buy 2 of the same figure but only talking MOC. For example if i have a 20back greedo and buy a 21back greedo, i would sell the other one even the cardback is different. But this doesnt mean if i buy a 2-pack wich also contains greedo, i would sell the other moc aswell, as this is something different imo.

| I was all set to answer this question. And then realized I never had any real rules when I was heavy into the SW thing and bootlegs. Maybe that's why I got so burned out on it. |

| Well John, one easy work around for the vacuform figure would be to hunt down a General Veers as that would not be another AT-AT Commander but a unique named figure. Sure it's a technicality, but it's an acceptable technicality. Mike |

| My rule is simple... Unless it was a Kenner figure to complete my loose figure set (had 3/4 already from when I was a kid) I only collect bootlegs, 2 of each is my limit and the 2nd one needs to be a decent color variant from the 1st. I wont touch modern unless its a toy for my sons, and even then I prefer to buy them vintage with the knowledge that they might destroy a 30 yr old toy. |

| I have a few rules but break them all at one point or another.
wont buy modern Hasbro, but i had to buy Hermi Odle, frigging cool figure.
Wont by anything modern, but have bought some GG jumbos
Only buy vintage style kenner figures and ships/playsets, dont like to buy other SW odds and ends, but would break that rule for bootlegs, cool customs store displays etc.
Wont buy anything with touch ups
Repro weapons get nowhere near my kenner set.
I dont let kids touch my vintage figures without me there, same gos for people on drugs lol |

| Aside from the obvious.... reproductions/touch-ups etc, I refuse to collect/purchase anything modern. |
