Thought- a new thread to out incorrect data,, Ebay seems filled with it.. ?
here's an example : a ebay potential buyer accused me of selling fake figures -- Raised Bar China figures.

Well...the authors done a great job of that!
If they have handled 1000's of vintage figures, I wander what they did with all the 'fake' China ones.

The University Professor must of pissed himsef laughing when asked about radiocarbon dating plastic toys.

Maybe they can send me all the ones labeled China or Macau!
I wouldn't turn them down.

Maybe Lucas is in the photos but standing in front of the figures so you can't see them

After some extensive review and research online, I have found that your item, Stormtrooper with raised COO China is a fake. Looking at the stamping on the back of the figure, typically the leg. The stamping can vary by figure but generally should be consistent to the original production run. If you see a Star Wars figure dated 1977-1985 with County of Origin ("COO") stamped with "China" anywhere on it, the figure is fake.
Vintage (1977-1985) Star Wars figures were mostly produced in Hong Kong, and some were produced in Taiwan. China did not produce anything Star Wars during this period. Hong Kong was under the rule of the British until July 1, 1997 when the United Kingdom transferred the sovereignty of Hong Kong back to the People's Republic of China (PRC). The United States did not have diplomatic relations with China until 1979, and this only occurred after Chinese leader Mao Zedong died three years earlier in September 1976.

Hi - The information you are referring to is totally false - I have seen it and whoever wrote it is a uninformed idiot. Star Wars figures were produced and released from 1977 - 1985 . While the us may not have had relationship with China in 1977/ 1978 we did have a relationship from 1979 through 1985 - thats 6 years that star wars figures WERE made in some China factories (as well as Hong Kong , Taiwan , Macau and more factories arround the world than you have any idea) . Just because stormtrooper figures have a date stamp of 1977 it does not mean that they were not actually produced at different dates - Kenner kept the same dates on all the original figures when they were released for the later movies (Empire in 1980, Return of Jedi 1982 ) - basically , even if a stormtrooper was released in Empire Strkes Back or ROTJ packaging it still had the 1977 date .

This is a FANTASTIC Website called The Imperial Gunnery (TIG) but there is another respected site as well called Rebelscum that you can look into as well . You should do your research at these places and you will quickly find out the truth that you are seeking . I believe that you will have to join TIG to view the forums but it is simple - username , password - and its free . From your low feedback and lack of knowledge I assume you must be new to star wars collecting - I highly recommend the websites I have mentioned because there is alot of great FACTUAL Information that you can discover .
In the future Please refrain from making false accusations until you take the time to do REAL Research .

I know that some of my dates aren't probably 100% accurate but its close enough - I am just tired of the missinformation causing me problems .

You would think after conducting "extensive review and research" they would have stumbled upon TIG or Rebelscum and been corrected. Is it possible that the accuser spent countless hours researching and concluded with misinformation?

Did they stop at the first piece of information published on eBay, lie about conducting research in the message to you and take the misinformation as absolute truth?

Regardless, if this isn't a hoax of some kind I hope the accuser finds the light sooner rather than later.

You are correct that i am new to the SW collecting and I do apologize for the information i received from EBay. Maybe someone should complain to that person who wrote that garbage. I am familiar with Rebel Scum and I will join TIG. I am in the process of buying several books to further educate myself. Is there a book that you recommend that showcases all carded figures as well as loose ones? Thank you once again and I do apologize. cheers!

I don't think they were trying to scam me by any means - just a new collector that started down the wrong path ...hopefully they will join us here at TIG and learn something helpful
