I am just trying to get some visual examples to put them in chronological order.

I have been checking them on ebay for a while now. I have seen a lot of them but for some strange reason there are always a few that seem odd, like they are a totally different sculpt.

i wish i could find a good visual example but i have none right now.

Some case look normal but some case look like they have a bigger helmet and narrower should for some reason. That is why i am checking here to see if someone else has seen the same difference that i am seeing and explain why it is so. It could be also a photography trick because of the angle. Anyways it would be nice to know if there was in fact different moulds...

I am aware that the vintage Vader cases can be found with either two (early issue) or four (later issue) hinges, but I thought the sculpt was unaltered.

I think your idea about the differences being a result of camera angle is most likely.

Unfortunately I don't know if or how the sculpt of the modern release differs to the vintage. But, that could be another possibilty.

The other moderns also have a different lower section. You can't confuse them. The newer versions lower front looks like a bunch of coils instead of the smooth lower front.

It sounds like the newer cases you are talking about are either the Just Toys case (which features the lower costume detail
and slightly different head), or possibly even one of the Disney clear back cases.
The most significant change to the vintage cases was the transition from the two to four hinge design, which was pointed out
above. (otherwise, there are no differences). The latest documented MIP example that I've been able to find is still on the
ESB 41b. (to date, the only exceptions to this are still the Canadian 32b and the LL. These both have 4 hinges)

That's pretty much it from a structural standpoint. Anything that doesn't look like your standard, vintage case, it just one of two
newer cases I mentioned previously. If you wanted a production/MIB break down, I can give a better listing of what I currently
have.
