| Chief Chirpa: Lili Ledy on the right ACCESSORIES [*]The Ledy Chief Chirpa carries a brown staff with a little "L". [*]The Ledy Chief Chirpa carries a brown hood which is a shade darker compared to the Kenner hood. Inside there is a big mould circle. BTW: Jeremy (discobob83) has a far more extended overview of the hoods. It would be good to have that in this thread as well. EDIT: I added a pic showing the COO differences. The Ledy Chirpa has an unique COO.

| QUOTE Though all vintage figures have minor variations, the Chief Chirpa did have one major production variation. Where the vast majority of Chief Chirpa figures are moulded in a light gray plastic, a small amount were produced in off white plastic. For the most part the white versions had turned up in early 1983 as prizes for a UK national newspaper’s contest. The contest winners received the figures in sealed Made In Hong Kong Kenner baggies and were accompanied with a light brown pointed-bottom staff. This wasn’t the only way to find this colour however, as it has been found on both Hong Kong produced Palitoy cards and Macau** produced Meccano cards. Thus far all examples found of the carded Hong Kong version sport a different COO* stamp than the bagged prize figure, and was packed with a dark brown round-bottom staff. The Macau version was similar to the other two versions, but didn’t have a COO stamp. This version has only been documented being packed with a dark brown pointed-bottom staff. QUOTE FROM: http://www.rebelscum.com/VINtChiefchirpa.asp I have a white fur with #1,#2 & #4. There is a #3 (Macau??) & #5 as well ???? "To date there have been no examples of the round-bottom staff shipped on North American card backs. " My Tsukuda & Clipper are 'round bottomed' But are North American cards with stickers!? |

I'm sure 'all' MIM figures are not regular kenner figures. That Chirpa IMO will have the unique 'Ledy' COO, the amulet has the raised dot similar to all of mine. The weapons are not always Ledy. |

Rog. I haven't either. The RS write-up seems to imply there is a Macao white fur ?? so who has a spare #5 white fur for me? & grey fur #1 aussie & Mexican

I took Dave's RS write-up to mean that White Chief Chirpas are found on some Macau Meccano cards (as well as Palitoy etc) so that implies that they are (all) Macau made (whether this is true or not, I don't know) rather than, a White Chirpa exists with Coo #3. If you have never seen one (& neither have I) I think we can say a White Chief Chirpa with Coo #3 does not exist Some common cardbacks: Kenner & Palitoy 65As, Palitoy 65A with "British Home Stores" Sticker & Palitoy 65B with "WHSmith" £1.49 Price Sticker. Rog. |
