| I thought everyone would enjoy seeing a very special part of my collection, my run of 12" ESB Vader items. The 12" line is really my favorite from childhood, so these types of items hold a very special meaning for me, especially considering that Vader was never released in the ESB packaging, other than in Australia by Toltoys (left to right) 12" ESB MIB - documented Kenner Toy Fair piece. NOT boxed up after the fact from a flat. This is one of two documented, original Kenner made figures. 12" ESB Box Flat 12" ESB MIB (Toltoys/Australia - retail boxed example) Enjoy !! Bill |

| Damm Aussies trying to steal the ESB thunder LOL
You mention it not being made from a flat. Was that a big deal at some point? I remember a story of someone doing it with an X Wing, but thought it was an isolated incident. |

| It was fairly common practice by dealers to box up various pieces from box flats. Everything from common, production flats, to unproduced ESB and Revenge pieces. At this stage in the hobby, there are more of these boxed up items floating around than the actual flats. A lot of the flats came from Tom N. were sadly boxed up by a handful of dealers as well.
The key thing to look at with an unproduced boxed piece, is the condition of the item. If it's case-fresh, brand new condition, then it is 99 % probability is a boxed up piece. The issue with these pieces is the most obvious - as a whole, the item is not genuine. The sum of the parts certainly are (the flat + item). Specific to the ESB Vader, there are two production changes to the figure which allow the figure to be matched to the box if another one surfaced. The example I have was used at Toy Fair, then some photography work by Kenner, so it's one of the few concrete, documented unproduced pieces out there.
It's unfortunate to be sure, but it's just a fact of how things used to be done in the hobby.
