PostSubject: 1980 Bespin Luke Figure valuations   1980 Bespin Luke Figure valuations I_icon_minitimeFri Jul 29, 2011 2:34 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a little advice -

I've been donated all of my brothers old toys to sell to fund a gift for my baby. With them were some of his old Star Wars figures. I'm looking to sell asap and will take for them whatever they sell for as they are 'played with' toys, however I just have one that is questionable - there are so many variations of it I want to be sure I am aware if it's rough value first!

It's the Luke Bespin Fatigues figure - with blonde hair and dark brown boots. It's stamped LFL 1980 and Made in (blank with no raised bar).

I am seeing these Luke figures ranging from just 99p to £115 on eBay and just can't tell what is making such a difference in the prices! Obviously mint condition is one factor but that doesn't seem to be the only factor when some mint ones are going unsold at just £5 or so.

Please help :-) thanks!

Hi Samara,

There are some versions of the Luke Bespin figure which are well sought after and are therefore more valuable.

A picture of the back and front, as well as the markings on the legs might help to answer your question.

Hi, thanks so much for your response it's much appreciate.

I am curious to know the value of my item and will post pictures (I'm away from my pc at the moment), but looking this all up has given me a genuine interest in to the different Luke Bespin figures and their values.

So for example, I've been all through eBay, and this figure, seems to match mine - (item 150632314547) it looks the same - has the same blonde hair; face; dark brown boots and stamp on back on mine is the LFL 1980 on one leg and "made in" then a blank on the other, which appears to be the same as this one. It sold for £115. But, I just do not think mine is worth that - given when this item (260808623077) which also appears to he the same, went unsold at just £26. Why is this?! This is where I am getting confused!

I see that the ones stamped with made in hong kong go for even less - just around a pound or two, so guess the hong kong stamp is a less desirable one. Howver to contradict that, this one (150632312739) with a hk stamp sold for £36. Can you see my confusion here!!? :-)

I understand condition and accessories play a big part, but as much as £115 down to zero?!

I hope to upload a pic of mine tomorrow, to see your views out of now pure interest in these many variations, but your comments before then would really be very much appreciated!

Many thanks

Samara

The 2 'expensive' 36 & 115 pound ones are above. His sales attracted a lot of attention & some high prices. Your 26 pound example is much closer to 'actual' value. I paid 10-15 pounds for mine.

welcome to TIG & all the best with the baby & sales Smile

Thank you very much for this. I would identify my Luke as the tri/pbp dark boots unless I am wrong?

I understand what you mean about the sales pitch making better sales, I just think its crazy some would pay THAT MUCH over the odds for something in the end is no better than one for say £15-£40.

So - Here is the picture, as you can see, its WELL played with (loved Smile ) and has back damage - quite substantial by all accounts, and if truth be told, I was just going to chuck him - I thought there would be no interest at all in a broken toy. However, at the last minute I thought there would be no harm to sell him for pence, if only to cover some fees for some of the other figures I am selling. So I listed him on ebay for a mere 49p.

However, my shock is actually the amount of interest I've had in it. And I just dont see why given his condition - especially if only worth £10-£15 mint.

Ive had many requests to end the listing early. For example, one guy mailed and he says he collects 'broken' star wars figures and enjoys restoring them. He is keen for me to end the listing for an offer of £5 as he doesnt like to wait! Now, I just dont understand why when he could bid and maybe win at 49p or a couple of pounds, or buy other non broken ones for less - for example some listed for just one or two pounds which havent sold or got bids. What im trying to do is establish why there issuch keen interest in a broken Luke when in all honesty, it would take some serious restoration to make him 'shine' again.... !

Any one shed any light - I'd be much appreciative!

Thank you again

Looks like the dark boots to me, to bad it's broken. Should still be able to be worth something in spare parts though.

So can anyone take a punt as to it's value as parts? I've been inundated with offers and really have no idea what's good!

I saw this one go on ebay. Very minty and complete though.

Thats what I thought too, but didn't dare to write any valuation, I am not good on variations.

Hi Samara,
I'm a Luke Bespin-A-Holic, and yes what you have there is The Tri Logo/PBP dark boots variation ( also found on Palitoy cards ), Of all the Bespin Lukes variation, it's definately the most sought after and usually sells for the most. I have 3 in my collection, light boots, dark boots and brown boots and I paid a tenner for the brown boots version and 3 quid for the other two. Prety lucky for me really. The dark boots one in my collection is not mint though. I've seen mint ones sell for 50 quid, the one on Ebay that sold for 115 quid was about as mint as they come, and it also came with the hardest Lightsaber variation to find as well.
The major problem with yours is of course the serious damage to the back torso, but from the front it displays ok I guess. I guess there only worth as much as someone is willing to pay. Good Luck!
