Hi T.I.G members,
I felt that I should share a recent pain I felt in the World of Star Wars collecting, I don't know if anyone read a post I did a while back about factory errors and curiosity figures in which I mentioned that my boss's dad used to work for Palitoy, and had, in his garage several original steel moulds for several Star Wars vehicles and there subsequent parts, mainly the Millennium Falcon and the AT-AT legs.
I had the pleasure of very briefly seeing these several years ago.
Recently I spoke to my boss about the significance of these pieces and there potential value after I was made aware of my's boss's fathers decline in health.
It was only on this occassion I learned that his father had actually cleared his garage a couple of years ago, and found the moulds covered in a light dusting of rust ( which of course can be easily removed with the right tools ). Fearing that they where know longer worth anything he cashed them in for scrap!
I'm sorry that I had to share this with you all, but I felt I should share the loss with people who would understand the significance of it.
Makes you wonder about other similar loses.
