In chat the other night we got into a discussion about how we used out toys at play. We talked about how you got creative if you had limited figures or ships or creatures.

I didn't have a Wampa as a kid so used an 8" Mego Hulk as a monster for Luke to get beat up by. Hulk was also used for other roles.

The Powder Droid was used as Lukes TV alot. PD was pressed into service as a walking bomb, a satellite, and even a drink machine!! The crazy thing kids will think of.

What are your stories?

Nice idea for a thread! Here are my memories:

I remember building ships out of shoe boxes as I never had any of the larger ships as kid. I used matchboxes and much other things for the interior - my best friend was my hot glue gun Smile

My Luke X-Wing had the CCP comlink as lightsaber (Luke Bespin was not available at my home town, as were Stormtroopers).

And finally I built holsters for the guns of several figures.

Cool. The shoe box cruiser. Had a few of those myself. I also used egg cartons as enemy fighters. Something about the shape of the egg holders made them look like a space ship to me. i would bug my mom to buy eggs because I needed more enemy ships.

Oh and speaking of eggs does anyone else remember when pantyhose came in those egg shaped containers. I used them for escape pods and bombs and whatever else my twisted little brain could come up with. Also made one up to look like a ship for R2 to fly around in.

I once made a Hoth diorama by placing my figures amidst my collection of stone minerals when I was a 12 year old kid.

Using sticky gum, I attached green, blue and yellow drink straws to blasters and canons so imitate lasershots. I even used little strings to hold a Wampa in the air which was just hit by a drink straw from the TriPod Laser canon.

Such a pity I never made pics at that time, oh man I would love to see that diorama again. Very Happy

great idea mates :-)

My first ever encounter with star wars was something in tv . Bcak then there where only 1 ( one )Danish TV channel and two Swedish we could watch. But i think it must have been on the Danish one.

I can remeber C-3po and R2 and somthing about some snow. And then R2 driveing into 3PO and pushing him off something.

I was so cout op in it that i can remember drawing 3PO and cutting him out in carborad. His space ship was the "gold" plastic insert of a cholate bar box.

( Now thinking of it it most have been some clips from Hoth and the part where R2 pushes 3PO of Jabbas Sail barge.)
(So this must have been about 83 . As i can remember playing SW in kindergarden after seeing ANH i TV and i satartet in school in 85. )

But back then i did not know the name , so the next merory of SW is in the local toy store and looking at all this carded figz and seeing C-3PO hanging there. I got him that day and i stil have him this day. I can just remember how cool that gold robot was . And i still had no idea about what it was all about.

I have so many meroreys about playing with the toys and so many hourers looking for them .

Right now i sit and think back with a big smile on my face Very Happy

A good story that I'll always remember is when I got the Boba Fett figure (for Easter - it was mixed in with various chocolates in my Easter basket Smile ). I wasn't able to get a Slave I ship because it was too pricey. My Dad, being the woodworker and generally creative guy that he is, built me a wooden Slave I ship complete with a nice paint job - it was the best toy ever. I still have it today Smile.
