I found the imperial gunnery by accident while searching on the net. I was annoyed to see my own pictures of my repro capes used on the site. I wouldn`t have minded if I had been asked and if pics and capes done care of Rolland Lajeunesse or by starwarslvr which is what I go by pretty well wherever I go on the net. I would like them removed. You could have purchased my capes and took your own pics as well instead of taking credit for someone else`s work.

I am simply a collector who makes repros to pay for my obsession. Last time I checked Lucas isn`t making any accessories for vintage figs. I take my time making them as best I can for fellow collectors and I sell them at a much lower price then anyone else I`ve seen. I think it would be nice to have someone show some recognition and not take credit for someone else`s work. When I show pics on my facebook group I state the name of whoever did it. I also take the time to post links and let other collectors know of people who make repros or custom figs such as bluenagsman on ebay or Glassman on facebook. This way we can all benefit from the work and create an open and friendly group of honest collectors and customizers. Instead of whipping out sarcasm how about showing each other some respect.

you may not realize this, but repros are a pain in the butt for us

if you were even half a collector i'm sure you'd understand why

For people who need capes for perhaps army building or wish to make their collection look more complete , there are people like myself that they can turn to. There aren`t enough original capes out there for all the star wars collectors in the world. More are growing each day and the prices of original capes and other accessories have gone far beyond reasonable. I sell to people who need something at a much lower price. I also simply trade for my stuff at times. If you check my album I posted a few items. I don`t try to pass them off as originals. I purposely use different colored thread or vinyl that`s just a little off so they cannot be passed off as originals. I also watch for listing of people who have purchased from me and have reported them for misleading fellow collectors. When it comes to collecting , I`m all for going nuts and building whatever you can. When it comes to hardcore collectors who seem to think they are somehow better then someone else because they have nothing but original peices , they have forgotten one very important thing. THESE ARE TOYS PEOPLE!!! We collect them so we have a place to sit back and remember what it was like to see the star destroyer come over the screen for the first time. People who seem to want to attack me for talking about my repros or post sarcastic remarks should relax and remember we`re all just a bunch of scifi geeks who still like collecting and playing with toys. Bits of plastic that will be chucked in the garbage by our wives after they`ve had us killed. Remember this is an obsession...not a religion.

And thats why the picture is on the main site, to show the repro cape compared to the original. And if you didn't come in with all guns blazing with your first post and kindly asked if you could be put as a contributer of the photo since it is yours, you might have got a "welcome to the boards" first. And from what I seen, no ones taking credit for making the cape in the first place. All its there for is to warn new collectors what to look out for when buying so they don't get stuck with a repro cape. At least I know one person not to buy from now.

Yep MODs please remove the pictures and post a "beware of Rolland Lajeunesse aka starwarslvr's bloody fake capes" on the main site - would be much better Wink

Rolland

Welcome the boards. I don't think you are selling them to the public as legitimate but the sad fact is that many reproduction items get flipped by people who have no qualms about ripping people off. Honestly you might be the first person to join the forums to defend your work so that alone tells me you are not looking to rip anyone off. But you know you can't watch over everyone you sell to.

As for your cape, it will remain on the site since the site is a resource to protect buyers and help them identify real from customs. Unless your against people knowing your product is a newer version? It sounds like you aren't opposed. I apologize if you felt overwhelmed by some of the initial comments but there is an epidemic involving reproductions and customs being passed off as real. As you said, the number or original items are only going to go down so educating now will certainly help in the future.

Rolland I am going to PM in a minute to discuss further.

I only just picked up the email an hour ago and came on line to see this thread.

For starters all pictures of fakes have been submitted to the site by various collectors they are displayed to warn collectors against REPRO's i know of 3 people personally who have been sold these capes as original on ebay not by yourself maybe but they were used to scam further down the line.

If its credit on the pictures your want i.e your username attached to them please state your ebay i.d and will be happy to add it to the bottom corner of each picture that you can show originates from yourself no problem i would be happy to do that. Please understand we have pictures sent to us from many sources we fund they site ourselves with one goal in mind to help people avoid been ripped off and have the neccessary tools to collect original items if they so choose.

Alternatively if its a case of you want the remove so other collectors cant be warned then that is morally wrong period believe me you have picked the wrong fight.

Some points to consider!

1 - NOTE - Its against ebay policy to sell fakes of licensed products on eBay thats what you are doing.

2 - We work with eBay Trust and Safety to ensure that fakes if neccessary are removed from eBay and the eBayer seller banned from eBay if the REPRO seller is acting in dishonest manner.

2 - ALL and i mean ALL the other REPRO sellers on eBay who sell REPRO's advertised as REPRO's work with the site to ensure they are documented and collectors protected. If your saying you dont wish to do this even with the picture credits as agreed then we will just go with option 2 no problem as its clear what your intentions are believe me you wont be the first scammer we have worked with eBay to remove.

I guess the choice is which side of the fence are you on because at the minute im a little unsure?

Just reread your posts and it seems like you are a repsonsible REPRO seller (although i can assure you these capes do rip people off further down the line i have dealt with 3 cases of this personally)

Like i said above we get countless pictures sent to us from various sources all collectors helping out to build the free resource for the use of everybody therefore this is the first i have heard of the pics coming from yourself. As i said before i would be very happy to add your credit details to the pictures.

My last post wasnt trying to be threatening at all but merely to highlight the flip side of the coin if you were saying you dont want other collectors to be protected then note selling fakes on ebay is against their site policy and turst and safety when informed take it seriously.

I hope we can work things out and get the credits added to your pictures Smile

One final note when you sign up to ebay you give up your rights to exclusive use of your pictures its in the terms and conditions thats why people can sell stock items using pictures from other peoples listings. I figured you may not be aware of this.

Cheers Jay

After reading through all the emails sent , yes I agree with imforming fellow collectors of repros. Iwas never apposed to that. I just wanted to be recognized for my work. I enjoy making accessories for others and customizing. Within my hometown of Timmins I`m simply known as the star wars guy. People call me up to bring their kids to see my collection and have brought me many broken toys for me to repair. I`m not out to make enemies here guys. I have uploaded new pics of most of my cloth capes in my personal album along with a few other items. I`m hoping the old pics will eventually be replaced. Especially the Lando cape which sucks. I haven`t used that material for some time now. I will post pics of my vinyl capes after the holidays.

Just to add i have been chatting with starwarslvr and we agreed its fully responsible to ensure REPRO detaileds as made public so collectors can stay informed. starwarslvr has kindly taken some new pictures (that thay have watermarked) of capes and will be doing some more after the holidays i will also start adding them to the main reference site www.imperialgunnery.com over the next 2 weeks Smile

Just to add when i finally get my new camera on Xmas day ill be adding a lot more REPRO content to the site as well and Tom Derby will also be providing addtional help with weapon variant pictures on the new year Smile

REPRO's are part of the hobby and thats not going to change for me its important to work with people who make REPRO's to a, ensure they dont copy the originals directly b, the sell them as REPRO's not Originals and c, as genuine sellers they share the details / pictures to ensure collectors can stay informed.

I have also been sent some additional pictures of REPRO capes as well by another collector. Here they are and ill be adding these to the site as well with descriptions.

starwarslvr im not sure if some of these came from you but the individual who sent me the pictures owns them i believe.

Here are some REPRO capes pictures that have been sent to the imperial gunnery by Derek (Many thanks buddy) i have worked the images he sent to try and clean them up and highlight some of the close up aspects to help collectors.

repro capes pictured on site VCJawaCapeREPROV1

repro capes pictured on site LeiaBespinVinylCapeREPROV1

repro capes pictured on site LandoCalrissianVinylCapeREPRO

repro capes pictured on site YodaCapeREPROV1

As i mentioned in my above post Tom Derby is sorting out some pictures (high res) of Original Cape Variants in the next month or so as well Smile

Also ill be able to take some great pictures of capes both REPRO and Original once i get my new camera Xmas day so over the next few months we will be expanding this area of www.imperialgunnery.com to further help collectors.

One thing i will say is there are a lot of REPRO capes on the market these days which range from very poor quality to high quality i feel its important that we work to document as many of them as possible to ensure collectors stay protected.

Just this week alone i have work with 2 people via email who have unknowingly purchased REPRO capes that were advertised as Original and in the last 3 months i have had 10 cases of guys been ripped off by REPRO capes sold as original so this highlights the scale of the problem.

If your worried you may have been sold a REPRO Cape as Original then dont hesitate to contact me and ill be happy to assist.

Jay

Great work here. Glad to see a repro maker being pro-active in making sure people don't get fooled by his repros. Kudos to everyone involved.
