For the Love of Vintage Empty

After taking some advice from our friendly neighborhood Joe_O, I decided that I would make a splash (splurge) and upgrade some of my loose figures. Most of my loose figures are the ones I had as a kid, and are in terrible shape. Plus most of the weapons are long gone.

After hemming and hawing a bit over the decision, I finally made the plunge and did the deal (thanks to the endless patience of Vintage_City mind you Wink). Anyway, I am sooo glad I did. I felt like a kid in a candy store last night unwrapping all of those figures. I did everything from smell the vintage plastic, to pose them with their weapons and marvel at the detail... even on Klaatu. It was like 1985 all over again!

Last night really reminded me of why it is I collect. And I've read countless stories about burn out and not being able to find anything. I can honestly say with 100% certainty that picking up a few loose figures will definitely re-ignite the spark again. Very Happy

Thats really a great story Chris, sometimes its the simple things that really spark the interest or just take you back to being a kid again!

I am glad you worked with Brett on those figures , I think he is one of the best sellers for loose (and more) out there and would recommend him to anyone!

For the love of vintage, thats gotta be put on a TIG shirt! Cool

I totally agree with you. After I sold off my last collection, I was tired of it all. But coming over here on TIG and seeing all the great limelights just got the feeling flowing again. With every new item added to the new collection is just like Christmas everyday.

And as for those who can't find anything to add to the collection, expand out from what you were mainly collecting. I've seen so many posts on RS from people that complain that they can't get what they want when they want it. Have patience and all good things will come. Thats the enjoyment you get from collecting, the hunt for certain items. You'll enjoy it more when you finally land that special piece to add to the rest and it will hold more value to you than just jumping on the first one that comes up.

What a lovely story Chris!

I can only echo Joe: Isn't it nice that sometimes the only stuff you really need to keep you happy is a few simple figures to take you back to good old days again!

There are two awesome smells I will always rememeber as a kid... the smell of a fresh figure ripped open on christmas/birthday morning and the freshly opened packet smell of Panni Football stickers on a Friday afternoon with my pocket money.

Craig, you just brought back alot of memories with the Panni stickers. Love the football and baseball ones and at 25 cents a pack can't beat it. cheers
