Just a bit of fun as many people here collect both, lets say you HAD to make the choice for whatever reason, what would it be? MOC or Loose ?

Reasons , discussions, trash talk all welcome Wink

When you have a Boba Fett Ledy MOC the answer is NO! LOL

I can see this being close though, there are some guys that are going to make a tough decision here..

I do like both but the ultimate for me its MOC you just cant beat seeing a vintage figure in all its original packaged glory!!!

Plus the vintage cardback art work was simple outstanding imo

I can't decide. Luckily the poll let me vote for both. Very Happy

Loose are fun because you actually get to touch the figure and examine it from all angles. They are generally a lot easier to afford too.

However, I agree with Jay on the display ability of MOC. I love how the vintage cardbacks had this nice big picture of the character displayed next to the figure. I remember being very disappointed in how small the character picture was when POTF2 started in '95. It has only taken Hasbro 15 years to finally figure that out.

Hmm.. lol I thought MOC would have a bit more of a majority vote tbh!

Will have to call some people to join the fight Wink (And no I don't mean bogus accounts Laughing )

I like both loose and MOC but I think a great MOC figure easily displays 100x better than a loose figure, you get the added bonus of looking at the artwork like Jay said and the design of the logo and cardback.

Besides, we are all grown ups, surely we don't play with our toys still ?? Shocked

(Sorry Wolff, I know you told me not to post that picture of you in public..but it might win some MOC votes ..) Laughing

Oh man...what shall I say...????

A lot of people already posted: A loose figure is bettere...you can play with it!

And if you truely think a Moc dispalys better....????This is nonsense...there is only ONE WAY to display a MOC: card in a shelf/on a wall...etc......kind of bowring!!!

A loose figure you can dispaly in every kind you like:
- in a dispaly
- diorama
- moving limbs to express action or display a movie scene

etc. etc...

a moc just stupidly hangs around...always the same move! Just card and a stupid, stiff figure!!

AND in most cases a MOC doesnt even hold his wepaon in hands....ppffffffffffffffffffffffff

Good points Wolff but I think MOC collectors no longer see them as toys and I doubt there are that many MOC collectors who still set up dioramas or pose their figures (no offence meant!) The figures are in their own right : Collectibles and are to be preserved and enjoyed as we are lucky to have them still in their packaging so many years after they were produced.

A 30 year old packaged toy with great graphics is a great display piece and more often than not an awesome talking point, when someone walks in with a slight interest in SW or none at all and you tell them ,yes that is an original unopened toy from 1983 they instantly jaw drop and go wow cool - how did you find that? etc etc

Of course, 30 year old loose figures on the shelf can have a similar effect but I think enjoying the figure in 2010 in the same state it was in when it was put on a peg in TRU in the 80's is just something magical.

Loose figures are great don't get me wrong but I enjoy Kenners SW history, the pre production side, the graphic design, the artwork, the history AND the figures, the reason I collect as an adult is a mixture of the entire process, as a child of course it was the figures but as I said, when you decide to pay big money for these things as an adult they are no longer toys in my opinion an as such step up from playthings.

.

I feel all of that Joe Smile

At the same time i know where Wolff is coming from collecting loose Vaders recently. It is like a giant game of CSI just locating all the different ones you need! The easy ones suck you in first then it gets harder and harder lol

Still thrill of the chase and all that! Smile

I love the thrill of buying a bulk lot of loose figures, and then searching through them, and occasionally finding a really rare one.

You can display a whole loose collection in 1 display cabinet you need a whole room for MOCs. In 20 years every MOC collection will be loose the figures would have freed themselves Razz

I know personally the last time i intentionally opened a card was when i was a kid.

Practicully everything i've been buying lately has been loose.I'll buy MOC stuffff if it's a rare Variant.I just don't have a whole collection of MOC Kenner stuff.

Dan. cheers cheers cheers

Loose. How else am I going to fit my Luke X-Wing Pilot into the cock pit of his fighter?

However, MOC displays so well - the packaging is awesome. Ideally I'd have my loose run then compliment it with a focus of MOC.

But ultimately I vote for loose.

MOC for sure!

I'm trying to complete my loose set with most major variations, but if I had to choose, I'd take a full MOC set anyday.

The whole presentation... the card... the figure.... the nostalgia! MOC/MIB is best IMO.

You can always open a MOC, but you can never put the loose figure back in, unless you're a customizer/repro artist.

I was really torn on this one. I like to be able to hold the actual figure in my hand, but I also like the way MOC displays. I agree that the artwork on the cards really makes for the better presentation and has more of the "WOW factor", especially to non-collectors.

In the end I cast my vote for MOC(even though I don't own any yet), but it was a very difficult decision. Thanks Joe for making me dig deep into my soul for the answer to this question.
