| How can you tell if a loose Boba Fett is a mailer or the standard carded edition? |

| I don't believe there is a way to tell them apart. Just like telling the difference between the Droids Fett or the regular Taiwan version, there is none. |

| As a collector, what would you expect to pay for a 79' Fett? Why are the mailers more expensive than the originals....? and how do you know which youre buying then? |

| When you buy a mailer, the premium you pay is for the box, catalog, etc..
The figure in itself is only worth what a bagged figure would be worth. Now keep in mind that different baggies are worth different amounts as well. |

First of all, Welcome to TIG! I'm not sure what you mean by your question. If your comparing the mailer Fett to MOC Fetts, then prices are a bit cheaper. A complete mailer Fett with the figure sealed in the bag and all paperwork, will generally cost you anywhere from $150-$200. It would have to be a pretty good day to get a MOC Fett for that price. If you're comparing to just a loose fett, then yes the complete mailer is a lot more, but it's a loose figure to a sealed one, even if it is just in a plastic bag. |

| By no means do I consider myself an expert on the matter, but I share a passion for vintage Boba Fett figures as well.
Once a figure is loose, especially in Boba Fetts case, it can be difficult to tell whether it came from a baggie, SW Card, ESB Card, ROTJ Card, Droids, Trilogo etc. Some figures will have subtle variations depending on what country it was made in (COO), which can be identified by the cardback or on the figure itself.... Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mexico, UK, Spain etc.
In my searches for good condition complete Fett figures here is an idea of what you can expect to pay on average....
- Loose Fett (HK COO) - $20.00 - Loose Fett (Taiwan COO) - $30.00 - Loose Fett (No COO - Trilogo Lt Blue) - $100.00
- Baggie Fett - $150.00 - Complete Mailer Fett - $200.00
Carded SW Fett - $3,000.00 Carded ESB Fett - $2,000.00 Carded ROTJ Fett - $200.00-$750.00 Carded Tri Logo Fett - $1,000.00 Carded Droids Fett - $800.00
Again this is just a very generic price list of the average prices I've come across in my searches for Boba Fett items in good to mint condition. The better the condition, the rarer the variation.... the higher the price is going to be.
And because of Boba Fetts popularity his items are always marked up higher!!!!!
Hope that helps!!!
You TIG Boba Fett experts feel free to chime in on what I said!!!! |

| I had someone ask me a question about something they saw on Ebay and it might apply here. He saw someone advertising "12 Back" figures. With very few exceptions most figures have no specific timeline of release. There are some notable exceptions when a figure was only released on a single cardback (Molded Legs Han Hoth only on a 31 back e.g.).
If someone is trying to sell you a figure claiming it's from a mailer it's still only worth normal value of the figure. There is NO premium on a Fett unless it's accompanied by the box and inserts |

And repro baggies I saw those a couple days ago as well!!!! Yeah... I got sucked into buying one... Thankfully Shawn tipped me off before I sent the paypal. I will think again before I buy another one without a little research into the seals and Baggie type before hand. |

| Okay, so I am a new collector. I have very few stuff, I have a 1979 Storm Trooper thats loose (with blaster tho!) and now I have a 79 Fett (with gun) also loose. I have a few PoTF stuff, including a very well kept X-Wing fighter with a pilot luke.
My main question here, is what should I be after and not after? I have no intentions to sell any of this stuff, and its mainly just for me, but I want the stuff that's unique, or harder to find, without paying a crap-load of dollars....make sense? I guess a better way to rephrase it, is wheres the best place to start"? |

You can PM me with your account issue! I'm more than happy to help. As for the auction link. That's 100% fake. It's a custom figure on a custom card. If you are looking for original items, I would pass on that one. However, if you want something unique to display for your own pleasure, then by all means go for it. Just know that it's basically a custom all the way around. Lastly, as for some guidance, it sound like you are on a good path to picking up some loose figure set. I would probably continue with that, and learn all you can along the way. Then as you gain some more experience and knowledge, you can branch out into other things. Who knows, maybe by that time you want to do a character focus, or just focus on vehicles or you discover bootlegs. The possibilities are endless. Just be patient and soak up as much as you can while you journey along. Another good thing to do would be peruse the Limelight section of the site. There are some amazing collections that people have assembled and that will give you a good idea of what all is out there. And above all else, don't be afraid to ask questions. We are all more than happy to help out in anyway we can. |

I guess a better way to rephrase it, is wheres the best place to start"? You're doing what we all did. Luckily you found a great site to learn and grow with! Easiet first lesson, forget the years. It means nothing. A lot of people try to pass the year off as meaning something. Most of the COO (Country of Origin) stamps almost always reflect when the figure was copyrighted. So a Jawa will be have 1977 always when it has a year stamp. Conversely Barada from the POTF line will be 1984. Now there are exceptions but by and large this is correct. Let's make life easy. What are you looking to accomplish? Complete set? Carded , loose or both? If you are looking for good prices, check the classifieds right here. Always good deals, you know there are no repro weapons and people are just easier to deal with. I just looked and there is a guy selling complete figures for $6 shipped and a MOC for $30 shipped !! But I've heard he is a self-promoting jerk named somethingBerizing Anywho my point is that if you read through the posts and stick around you can build a nice collection without breaking the bank. Welcome aboard!! John |

| Well two things jump out.
1) These aren't vintage. These are 2010 editions.
2) I think that they are not "offically" out yet so this person is certainly charging a premium. |
