PostSubject: Variant Help?   Variant Help? I_icon_minitimeTue Feb 24, 2015 3:29 am

I got myself into a little predicament.
I have a friend who asked me to find some figs for him. Nothing crazy. He is not a collector, he just wanted some old beaters to have and show his kids and put on a shelf. Some of his list I had as extras, some Ive been buying up cheap on Ebay. I always look at the COO's of any figs I get, but I know nothing about which are rare or more valuable (and I'm terrible at identifying colors). I got some in the mail and looking at a Lando Skiff started an avalanche of web pages open at once and maybe my brain melted a little. Then a Squidhead belt put me over the edge.

I want to give my friend the figs he wants but because he doesn't care which coo he gets, I dont want to give him something thats maybe I should hold onto myself because its cool or trade/sell to a variant collector. I started to feel the pull of variant collecting I always read about, but realize I am not really ready to enter the vast confusing world of variants especially for all 100 or so figs.

In short I was hoping someone could give me some basic answers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lando Skiff (left pic) I think is Ledy but am unsure. If it is Ledy, does that mean it was sold in Mexico? It could have been made for sale in US on a US card? A "regular" HK Lando is right pic. Are Ledy Lando S. Rare?

This Squidhead has a belt that I cant see pictured in the weapon/accessories guide (letter C). I wondered if it was commonly known or if some pics should be added. Maybe someone is a Squidhead collector out there can shed some light. I dont think the Coo is rare and I dont know for sure if the belt is orig to the fig but I added a pic anyway. The gun is darker grey.

Is one of these Han Hoth figures more rare or desired? I thought maybe the darker pants on the left were more "special"?

With this Leia Boushh I dont think theres any reason Taiwan (I think brown eyes) is rarer? Just in case...

Any of the 13 figures found on Made In Mexico cards are easy enough to find:

keep your "Ledy" Lando

The mould letters on accessories are not all catalogued On TIG yet, send a picture through so we can add it.  It is not overly important

Dark Brown pants Han Hoth is 'rare' (the POCH version ) neither of yours is one- choose the best condition one to keep

There are two main Taiwan Boushh variants:

The two on the left are brown torso ( & can be slightly more difficult to find)

Wow! Thank you so much for your insight AussieJames, and so fast.  It only makes me want to scratch the variant itch.

I will definitely hold on to the Lando, I think I paid $10 for it. So all figures found on Made In Mexico cards will have this same Ledy Coo? (Are you sure its not super rare? You only have one in your picture  Razz ) The "Vibrating" Axe and helmet I have with it don't seem to be Ledy, both V3 in the guide. Does that mean they did not originally come with the fig?

Leia B. I added a pic, but I think its the one on the far right of your pic. Which if I understand correctly, (thank to you again James) isn't too rare or special.

Ill take some good pics of the Squidhead belt for cataloging in case its needed and probably send the fig along to my friend with Han and Leia.

Thanks again James for replying and so fast,
You rock.

I am no Ledy expert but as far as I know there were only Ledy accessories with ledy figures the Lando skiff one is not super rare but finding his ledy helmet and staff is a challenge I was lucky that James had the helmet for mine. Varients can be a real challenge I have a few in my collection but aside from that I don't normally go for them maybe when I finish the Kenner run I will get the Ledy ones I need Smile

Larry, the figures that AJ shows that were packed on kenner cards but say made in mexico can come with kenner or Ledy accessories on those cardbacks.

ah I did not know that. So if I had a Lil Ledy loose Han Solo Bespin with a kenner gun that would be ok just curious now as I have 2 Ledy biker scouts one with his Ledy weapon one without but I do have a spare Kenner blaster. So if I wanted to sell it I could say it's complete with original weapon. Like I said I am no expert Smile. Man I never realized just how big this Star Wars road is lol.
